Tonight on ABC their new series The Rookie premieres with an all-new Tuesday, December 4, 2018, season 1 episode 6 called, “The Ride Along,” and we have your The Rookie recap below. On tonight’s The Rookie episode as per the ABC synopsis, “Sergeant Grey informs Officer Nolan and Officer Bishop that they are going to have a movie director as a ride-along during their patrol after a fun afternoon granting the wish of a Make-A-Wish kid as honorary police officer Kaydence Patton. Meanwhile, Officer Bradford is tested once again after he learns that his wife, Isabel, has been arrested for drug possession”

John and Talia are asked to take an action director on a ride along. The captain tells them he isn’t allowed to get near danger. After they leave the office, the writer offers them cash to see action. Talia rolls her eyes and tells him to put it away.
Angela and Jackson report to a call. A man is yelling. Inside they discover that he has been shocking himself for a rush. They won’t take him in if he tells them where all the stolen items in his place came from.
The captain calls Tim in. His wife has been busted for drugs with intent to sell. He wanted to give him a heads up.
John and Talia are called to a scene. They head into the home when no one answers and discover a woman who has been dead for a very long time.
Tim’s wife is brought into the precinct. They make eye contact awkwardly. Chen watches the whole thing uncomfortable.
Tim talks to the undercover cops who brought his wife in. They tell him she is looking at years in the county. They tell him there is no making this go away. The captain tells him to take a personal day. He says he doesn’t need one. Meanwhile, the actor is getting anxious while John and Talia work to get the coroner there.
Bored and back on the road in the cruiser, the actor asks to go on a more adventurous call. A call comes in a second later for a family disturbance. John talks Talia into bringing them there. When they arrive there is a family on the front lawn with one man holding a knife. They draw their guns and demand he put the knife down. He gets upset and it is evident he has a disability. He didn’t mean to hurt his mom but he burnt his pancakes. Talia tells him when the little bubbles appear that’s when he should flip. She is calm and approaches him, telling him to put the knife down. He does, she cuffs him.
Tim talks to his wife. She pleads for his help. She has a kilo of heroin stashed at her apartment. Meanwhile, another unit comes to pick up the man with the knife on the 51-50 hold. The director starts to film with his camera and the family gets upset with one of the brothers pushing him to the ground.
Angela and Jackson get into trouble for chasing the trail of stolen items while Talia and John are also reprimanded for the director being pushed to the ground. John accepts an invite to the director’s house for a party later while Talia declines.
That night, Tim goes to his wife’s apartments to find the kilo. When he comes outside Chen is there. She tells him not to help her.
John arrives at the party underdressed. I see a man slip something into the drink of a lady. He grabs him and arrests him. They all applaud. Later, John comes back. He and the director talk. He wants to make better movies. John tells him he loves his movies and has watched all of them with his own son. The director asks what will happen to the young man from earlier. John tells him that his family doesn’t have the means so he won’t get the help he needs.
The next day, Tim and Chen talk to the captain who tells them Tim’s wife had a kilo in her apartment. It looks like Tim didn’t help her after all. Meanwhile, his wife is telling her lawyer how she got hooked on the job.
John and Talia get a call from the director. He tries to offer money to the family of the man and they attacked him. They head there and get into a gunfight. The men run and they are forced to walk the filming lot to find them. Talia takes one down after he jumps on him. John finds the director and the brother of the man. He has a gun on the director. John talks him into lowering the gun. The director pushes back and grabs it, waving it, yelling I got it. Suddenly he is shot from a distance. John rushes to him.
The paramedics arrive. The director is wheeled away but will be all right. Meanwhile, Tim’s wife is being transferred. On her way out she tells him she needed him and he didn’t help her.
Angela is upset. The man they used to get a lead on the stolen goods was beaten half to death. She feels like it is her fault.
Angela and Talia hop in Tim’s car to cheer him up. They take him out for a drink.
John goes home tired and calls his son to talk.
