The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Michael Muhney (ex-Adam Newman) has finally broken his social media silence. Muhney has been taking an extended break from Twitter, so many Y&R fans have been wondering what’s up. His account was pretty active previously, which made it strange when Muhney stopped tweeting and sharing pics last November.
Naturally, Muhney’s lack of posts fed speculation that he might be returning as Adam Newman on Y&R. The news of Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) exit made viewers even more curious. It doesn’t seem likely that we’ll see Adam make a permanent return without Chelsea around, but a comeback cameo is always a possibility.
Fortunately, Muhney reached out to The Young and the Restless fans on February 14. He sent out a special Valentine’s Day message to all his supporters. Muhney didn’t offer a reason for why he stayed off social media for so long, but Y&R watchers were just glad he spoke out again.
Muhney decided to give a shout-out of appreciation. He didn’t want to let Valentin’s Day go by without making a statement of love. Muhney’s incredibly grateful for all the “support & encouragement, whether it be most of u cheering for a #YR return or just cheering…in general.”
That might indicate that Y&R still hasn’t brought Michael Muhney back, but we can’t assume too much. After all, the show probably wouldn’t allow him to blurt this out on social media. That’s the kind of thing they’d save for an announcement on a site that typically reveals major returns.
Then again, The Young and the Restless could use this as a huge surprise for February sweeps. Chelsea’s departure is still shrouded in mystery. Everyone can see that her life’s falling apart, but the details of her final scenes remain under wraps.
Since Y&R has trashed Chelsea’s character with this exit storyline, she really deserves a happy ending. Reuniting with her beloved Adam would be perfect. Adam Newman had plastic surgery to change his appearance, but who cares? It wouldn’t be the first time a soap ignored something like that in favor of delivering a good story.
Regardless, Muhney’s getting lots of supportive Twitter mentions. He’s hoping that trend continues for himself and other soap stars. Muhney said, “Keep using Twitter as a place to lift each other up! #Love.”
