The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that there’s even more hope for Adam Newman’s future in Genoa City. Losing Justin Hartley in the role was tough, but that ship has sailed. Hartley’s found great success on NBC’s primetime hit, This Is Us. However, that doesn’t mean Adam can’t return in the form of another actor. He’s an intriguing character and many soap hunks could step up.
There’s new evidence that suggests Adam’s comeback could be underway. In the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, a blind item pointed to the revival of this fan favorite. This tidbit could be about any of the four soaps, but it sounds like a spot-on fit for Adam. An insider reveals that one daytime drama plans to work a presumed dead character into the story again.
Presumed could be the key word there. The GCPD found evidence that suggested Adam was dead, but they couldn’t get true confirmation. No body means there’s always the possibility of a return. Y&R intentionally left the door open since The Young and the Restless viewers seem to love this character so much.
General Hospital and Days of Our Lives have characters that could be resurrected, but they’ve also just done dramatic “back from the dead” arcs. Jason (Steve Burton) turned out to be alive on GH and Will (Chandler Massey) was revived on DOOL. Those soaps might want to hold off on undoing more deaths for a while. They wouldn’t want people to get burnt out on an overused plot.
It’s hard to think of a presumed dead B&B character that would be helpful to the show right now. The Bold and the Beautiful could really use an Aly (Ashlyn Pearce) comeback, but she’s considered “dead dead.” That doesn’t mean they couldn’t rewrite the story, but it wouldn’t fit the blind item.
All of that leads us to believe Y&R is the soap and Adam is the deceased character set to return. Mal Young, the show’s head writer and executive producer, plans to fill some old roles with new faces in 2018. It looks like Adam could be one near the top of his list!
The Young and the Restless spoilers hint that the drama’s about to heat up, so stay tuned. It doesn’t hurt to mention that the natural replacement for Justin Hartley is Michael Muhney – 90% of Y&R fans responding to CDL polls want Muhney back as Adam Newman. Furthermore, the usually social media active Michael Muhney has maintained Twitter silence for the past 6 weeks. We’ll give you updates as other Y&R news comes in. Stick with the CBS soap and don’t forget to check CDL often for the latest Young and the Restless spoilers, updates and news.
