The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Ashley (Eileen Davidson) will likely kill Graham (Max Shippee)! She will catch Mr. Bloodworth attempting to inject Dina (Marla Adams) with the chemicals he stole from the Jabot lab, fight him off and plunge a syringe into Genoa City’s reigning villain.
Ashley’s successful rescue will serve to not only save her mother’s life, but also to extend Adams’ great run on Y&R indefinitely. Yes, the coming scenes will be dramatic and result in a climax to one of the more meaningful and compelling storylines in recent show history.
Alzheimer’s disease is something that’s affected millions of lives around the world. Many fans surely know, or are aware of real life individuals, likely including some fellow soap fans who have been impacted by this scourge in recent years. This fictional story may be serving as a catharsis for those Y&R’s supporters.
Y&R made a bold decision when it chose to revive a secondary character that hadn’t been relevant in decades and then have her become a central player in a main storyline. That choice has resulted in a deeply meaningful, unfolding tale that continues to make a significant impact on the audience.
The Graham character was written into the show to serve as Dina’s companion and later, foil. An extended reveal confirmed that he wasn’t actually interested in Madame Mergeron’s best interests, but instead her money. That stance was driven by his real mother’s vengeance, who wasn’t dead as he’d previously said. Dina had an affair with Graham’s stepfather, Brent Davis (Bert Kramer), which resulted in Ashley’s birth.
The Abbott family wasn’t surprised to learn that Graham manipulated Dina into making him her sole heir last summer, when she changed her will. But a recent mini-stroke pushed out the news that Dina had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s more than a year ago. Graham had that knowledge, but successfully encouraged Dina to withhold that information from her family, which he did as well.
Shippee’s recent return to the cast, after a few-month absence, was anticipated by savvy Y&R viewers. GC fans knew his plot line hadn’t fully played out, but may, like the Abbott family, have been stunned to learn that Graham married Dina while in Florida last fall.
While Jack (Peter Bergman) has positioned himself as his mother’s protector, Ashley, who has rarely seen eye-to-eye with Dina, will incredibly become her life-saver. How ironic in an arc that’s provided numerous delicious dialogue points since first starting in 2017, when Ashley was angered that her mother was coming to GC.
