The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Billy Deserves Better – Maligned Character Redeemed By Summer’s Baby?

The Young and the Restless spoilers documented Billy’s (Jason Thompson) so-called fall from grace. Billy-boy screwed up again, or so various Genoa City personalities would have him believe.

Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) is hardly a saint. This unreformed sinner claimed a supposed break in Philly’s relationship gave her license to sleep with Nick (Joshua Morrow).

Well, the time lag between the un-jailed attempted murderer, meaning Phyllis, and Phick’s cavort followed Billy being thrown out of Summer’s (Hunter King) condo, where Phyllis has been squatting for months. Who leeches off their twenty-something daughter, by the way?

Billy was hurt by Philly’s verbal disagreement, but he didn’t run into Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) arms. Not that the ice princess would have taken him, but plot the point remains apt.

As his personal drama was unfolding, entitled Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and sneaky Kyle (Michael Mealor) were working to overthrow Billy’s decent run at Jabot. Yes, Jaboat was an extravagant, million-dollar plus, off-book expenditure. But that yacht should be considered in the overall view of what Billy did right during his time in John’s (Jerry Douglas) chair. And the Jabotique idea was actually worth pursuing instead of sinking.

And let’s not forget that as Ashley was choosing to look the other way while Kyle lured Billy back to gambling, she was the one who strongly coerced her brother to take the Chief Executive Officer’s job to begin with! Billy was being manipulated, full-out, and was always considered as a place-holder until Ashley was ready to sit in the chair.

Now, as to Summer. She threw herself at Billy for months. So, based on Phyllis’ betrayal, he rebounded into Miss Newman’s arms. That was wrong. Billy is given no quarter in that part of his life and might become a third-time dad if Summer begins to develop morning sickness in the next few weeks.

The referenced baby would be the redemptive chance Billy receives, even though few fans would likely see that dramatic storyline leading that way, at first. However, every new life, including the one Summer and Billy would have created, does offer hope.

On the upside, Billy checked himself into rehab and is following the steps needed to keep his gambling addiction under control. He’s seemingly separated himself from Phyllis, who proved to not be his next soul mate.

Mr. Abbott’s forced removal from Jabot also, actually serves to remove him from a position that was going to be fraught with family rivalry indefinitely. That would not have been a healthy environment for an addict.

Maybe Summer was right all along. She and Billy can be good together. However, it’s understood that Summer and her mother are planning revenge against Billy. But if Y&R writes King’s character into having conceived a child, then a new path for Thompson’s character will exist.

If the above doesn’t happen, then Billy deserves to be given some other type of fresh start with different characters who will see the best in him. That, all readers, would represent good soap, depending upon how the arc would be written.
