The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that the coverup crew will be found out. Yes, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), the accidental killer, Phyllis (Gina Tognoni), the fixer, Vickie (Amelia Heinle), the victim, and Sharon (Sharon Case), the initial voice of reason, will have their soapy lives turned upside down when the death of J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) is uncovered.
They all thought he was buried. But New Hope will prove to be the doom of this oddly grouped foursome.
Y&R fans can see the converging storylines now. Nikki and Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) subjective housing project combines with the suspicious placement of J.T.’s body within Chancellor Park.
The best laid plans often lead to trouble. Performing a good deed will get one punished. Uh, no to both cynical statements. But in Genoa City, it was Nikki’s idea to use the dug hole on New Hope’s plot of claimed land. She felt it was the best place to dump Vickie’s suddenly erased ex-husband and spurned love interest.
Meanwhile, Phyllis was written as a Sopranos-like fixer. That creative choice made some sense based upon the character’s history. However, devoted viewers know that the bad Phyllis was all Michelle Stafford’s and hasn’t been Tognoni’s until now.
As implied, J.T.’s unearthed body will prove to be the key to reviving this unsolved mystery. Everyone outside of the coverup crew believes that J.T. ran away.
Vickie actually copped to Paul (Doug Davidson) that she’d helped him escape town. That selfless act was intended to get her mom, Phyllis, and Sharon off the hook. Instead, it merely delayed their coming persecutions, or prosecutions depending upon one’s morality.
Nikki never intended to kill J.T., but circumstances created a maternal instinct. Some living creatures protect their offspring by standing with the baby. Others attack the perpetrator, as three-time killer Nikki did. She’d previously offed her father and Diane Jenkins (Maura West).
Phyllis has hardly been devious, save for fooling around with Billy (Jason Thompson) while she was with Jack (Peter Bergman). Viewers recall Philly’s run actually began when Burgess Jenkins was Billy.
The write-around to bad Phyllis felt and remains a bit stretched. But it’s true that no love remains lost between her and Pristine.
And then there’s Sharon. She insisted that the foursome report what happened. It was an accident, so Paul would understand. Phyllis fought against that logic, Nikki agreed, and Sharon was overruled. She later came around to those two ladies skewed point of view.
June will prove to be a four-pronged swoon for the accidental killer, the fixer, the victim, and the initial voice of reason. Nikki, Phyllis, Vickie, and Sharon in the aforementioned order.
