The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Christian’s (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) disappearance will naturally spark a full police investigation. This crisis sets the stage for an epic paternity reveal that proves Nick (Joshua Morrow) isn’t this lost boy’s father.
Nick and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) are rightly panicked when they can’t find one of their boys. Connor (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois) is safe, but his brother is missing. Yes, Christian isn’t Connor’s cousin, even though Nick doesn’t yet know that. Yet is the key word in the last sentence and within this latent arc that’s being revived, potentially to be fully addressed.
Blood brothers, as Nick and Adam (Justin Hartley) were, share common genetic traits. But those men didn’t share the same mother, thus making Christian’s biology a match to Adam’s instead of to the man who’s believed by almost everyone in Genoa City to be his dad.
A missing child is every honest parent’s worst fear. Though not every parent is honest, right?
Chelsea has been keeping her supposedly dead husband’s secret since September 2016. Adam believed, or seemingly had confirmed that Christian was his child through Sage (Kelly Sullivan). His alleged murder, via Chloe’s (Elizabeth Hendrickson) demented intent, served to keep that secret buried until now.
The referenced plot point is debatable, as hardcore viewers have always wondered whether one of the connected characters somehow finagled the results. However, for purposes of following that intended storyline, let’s proceed.
So, Paul (Doug Davidson) green-lights the missing Christian case. He makes it a top priority, therefore distracting his hounding of Victor (Eric Braeden). As an aside to this scribe’s audience, could Pristine (Paul and Christine, Lauralee Bell) have been written in a more foolish direction?
This husband and wife duo actually believe that Victor was involved in Zack’s (Ryan Ashton) human trafficking ring. That’s implausible Mal Young.
The GC Police Department will obviously find Christian. He’s gone missing so that the process of his discovery addresses other open storyline issues. Crime Scene Investigative (CSI) techniques, with purposeful CBS show references implied, will be employed to locate said son of Nick.
Y&R fans know that the GCPD located some of Adam’s genetic material at the cabin explosion site where he’s said to have died. The department’s ease of access to available stored genetic data files will prove to be crucial as this evidence trail plays out.
No Nick, you’re not this boy’s father. Your dead brother held that honor. References to Adam have been made in the past tense, which appears declarative. Hmm, is it possible that TPTB at Y&R are also reopening the case of Adam’s missing place within this cast of characters? Is Adam coming back?
The possibility can’t be denied. Yet, one unresolved storyline morsel needs to be digested before another is seen and eaten.
