The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Marla Adams Wows Again – Ashley Sees Victor's Soft Side

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers continues to document Marla Adams’ show-stopping performances as Dina. Now that Madame Mergeron has returned, viewers are again witnessing one of the most meaningful performances in recent Y&R history.

This scribe’s words merely rebroadcast and affirm the outpouring of kudos offered by soap fans across the modern spectrum. Adams work was, without a doubt, and again is outstanding. Once more, outstanding!

The idea that a side character, who was part of Abbott character’s backstories in the mid-1980’s, could return to the cast in 2017 and assume a role of such importance is mind-boggling. True credit to executive producer and head writer Mal Young and his staff for having the courage to write the modern scourge that is Alzheimer’s straight into daytime’s top drama.

To see Dina with her face smeared with makeup, while she imagined herself a high school girl preparing for John (Jerry Douglas) was chilling. The mirrored reflection of Dina in her youth cut with present day images was heartbreaking.

The audience is being given a gift. This storyline will long be remembered because of the personal connections so many Y&R fans are internally making. Real life loved ones are seen on screen whenever Dina appears. Amazing, just amazing indeed.

Meanwhile, in Genoa City’s world, Victor (Eric Braden) played his cards smartly. He did so in a way he hadn’t calculated, or anticipated. Dina believed he was John, arriving to pick her up for Walnut Grove’s dance. Victor quickly went along with her, much to everyone’s hushed approval.

Modern scientific thought (which is a form of somewhat educated guessing) suggests that people play along with those who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease. That seems questionable, depending upon the circumstances.

Not everyone can be Victor and carry Dina’s imaginings through to the Top of the Tower. The Moustache did that, as Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Tracey (Beth Maitland) observed from their table. But if one didn’t have power and followed Dina’s hopes, where would they have led? And, how would one handle the disappointment that followed in whatever form was evidenced?

Dina believed that she was truly at Walnut Grove’s social hall with John’s tapped replacement. Ashley caught a glimpse of Victor’s human side during that time. Might the Black Knight have begun to rekindle Ashley’s feelings with that gesture? He’s surely hoping so, as Victor wants Ashley to return to his company.

The play out of this storyline, that includes Dina at the center, will flow into the spring. More must-watch scenes will be relished as that happens. Yes, the value of entertainment that strives to reach wide swaths of the audience, rather than segments, remains wise. CDL is a leading source for everything linked to The Young and the Restless.
