The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Nikki’s Storyline is Ridiculous – Victor Must Not Follow Suit

The Young and the Restless spoilers documented Niktor’s personal agreement to continue their marriage, but according to unusual terms. They recently opted to pretend to be a couple, but pursue outside interests. Translation, personal peccadillos wouldn’t cause either party offense.

The sight of Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) coming on to Arturo (Jason Canela) was disgusting, except to those who have no morals. All who give in to base human instincts promote lust over love.

Beyond the decency issue that was just raised, is it believable to think that some guy Arturo’s age (mid-20’s) would agree to cavort with a former Bayou dancer who’s thirty years past her prime? Yes, but that doesn’t mean this storyline deserved to see the light of day in Genoa City.

Hey, knee-jerk emotionalists, this scribe understands that the soap opera world isn’t the place to go all high and mighty. Stretched reality is the norm within this realm. But the plausibility of a contractor, who knows that he’s working for the Newman family, having relations with Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) wife is totally outrageous!

Again, the outside world believes that Niktor is solid. Why would Arturo risk his company’s future, heck, why would he risk his life by going horizontal in a GC Athletic Club suite with Mrs. Newman? That’s nuts. And he did so for an extra ten percent overage on costs for the housing project. Hmm.

Executive producer and head writer Mal Young is given great kudos for many of the home runs and grand slams he and his team have hit since he assumed power on Y&R. However, even the 2017 World Series-winning Houston Astros lost a game once in awhile. That was a spring training wink, for all baseball fans who know that soaps and sports are cousins, as they are both ongoing dramas where personalities are followed.

Savvy daytime devotees must believe that Victor will come to know, or already knows about Nikki’s realized, side business arrangement. No matter what anyone in Wisconsin believes, or what Y&R writes, Victor will always be jealous of any man that looks twice at his sweetie.

Scott remains a terrific actor and her real life look is enduringly beautiful. But Nikki Newman opting to slum with a contractor and basically give him money for doing so? No way, no how, not ever.

Y&R struck out on this one. End this plot point soon before the losses start mounting in Niktor’s storyline. And Mal Young, don’t have Victor do something similar, somehow with Helen Wallace (Sitara Hewitt). That too would be ridiculous.
