The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that the writing staff needs to wrap up the J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) storyline this month. Bleeding the stretched storyline into May Sweeps is fine, but this show better not sweep it into summer if it wants to keep its fans interested.
Paul (Doug Davidson) knows that Victoria (Amelia Heinle) is a liar. Beyond the fact that her last name is Newman, her story just doesn’t add up. Nor do those of her three other cohorts.
Was Abby (Melissa Ordway) at Vickie’s house, or not? Why didn’t Vickie hear her cell phone ringing and not recall when she deleted her supposedly unread texts? If J.T. was known to be right near Vickie’s house that night, why didn’t any of the Girls Night In group see him?
Each of those questions and others are pushing Vickie’s buttons, which is exactly what Paul wants to do. The chief will soon expose what really happened to Mr. Hellstrom. Methodical police work will make that happen.
Many who have convinced themselves to distrust authority claim that they have been persecuted, or that some segment of society has, or whatever. Screeches from too many, too often undercut legitimate abuses within the system, though the foolish don’t recognize that truth.
Some who are entitled, both by wealth and by subjective attitudes, regardless of economic status, cop-bash in order to try and justify rule-breaking in a soapy life. Such is the case with Vickie, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Phyllis (Gina Tognoni), and now, sadly, Sharon (Sharon Case) who just threw-in with this misguided group.
People like Vickie refer to Paul with disgust and call him ‘cop.’ The uninformed don’t know that cop stands for constable on patrol.
Lying to Paul won’t erase your guilt Victoria. You are more like your namesake father, the infamous liar Christian Miller (Eric Braeden), then you will ever admit. Christian goes by the invented name Victor Newman because he’s ashamed of his heritage and blames Albert (George Kennedy) and society for it.
J.T. was out of control and had to be stopped. Nikki didn’t intend to kill him, but did so accidentally to protect you, Vickie. A truly strong woman would have reported all that happened to Paul, even if it was a few days later. Empowerment doesn’t just mean getting what you think you deserve. It also means doing what’s right thereby furthering justice.
A sampling of Y&R fans of social media determine the following: Vickie deserves to go to jail for months; Nikki, maybe a year; Phyllis, several years, because she was the ring leader. Sharon deserves house arrest and the ability to operate Crimson Lights – she’s wanted to confess honestly since the start of this nightmare.
Of course, these legacy characters and the great actors who portray them won’t spend more than weeks in the slammer. Here’s hoping that they’re all hauled to the slammer during May Sweeps, meaning that the J.T. Dies storyline climaxes by Memorial Day week.
