The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Billy’s (Jason Thompson) need each other is being revisited. Reed’s (Tristan Lake Leabu) return stirs the still-unresolved J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) storyline and along with that the chance for Villy to revive increases.
Jack’s (Peter Bergman) heart-to-heart with his often woebegone little brother was followed by Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) reaffirming that Philly is done. While she got Billy to agree that their working relationship is good, Red’s rebooted repair with Nick (Joshua Morrow) seems to confirm that she’s moved on from Billy.
Could Phyllis’ thoughts rebound? Could Billy use his charm to overpower Phyllis’ logic? The answers to both questions are certainly, of course. But Y&R appears to have dashed Shick and Philly in order to reestablish Phick and open, or reopen other plot paths.
With Phick’s couple’s resurrection, Victoria and Billy’s dual single status matters. Reed’s reliance on Billy as a father figure is also very significant.
Reed’s return to Genoa City was purposeful. He wants to solve his father’s murder and is instantly written into conflict with Victor (Eric Braeden), J.T.’s purported murderer, and then likely into major conflict with Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), who actually is responsible for Mr. Hellstrom’s demise “in his forties”, as Reed told Billy.
Vickie will need Billy’s help to reign in Reed’s rush of emotions, as this young man attempts to process and handle the link his grandparents have to the later part and subsequent end of J.T.’s life. Heinle’s character’s reveal as being part of the coverup crew will also put Reed at odds with his mother.
It appears as though Leabu’s return to the cast is meant to coincide with the coming end of the J.T. mystery. Whether a conclusion is at hand isn’t known, as Y&R has already allowed this storyline to run for eight months.
With whatever the climax date, Victoria and Billy are unattached and will surely be placed in each other’s scenes quite often in coming weeks. Those interactions will naturally allow both characters to grow closer during vulnerable periods in their lives.
A scenario where Billy gets involved with Reed after his coming hit and run on Granny would enable Vickie to fall in love with Thompson’s character again. Though all who are aware of Villy’s various editions know that Vickie and Billy have never stopped caring each other. The fact that they share a child, Katie (Sienna Mercuri), and that Vickie adopted Johnny (Holden and Ryan Hare), projects the endless ties this once- and maybe again couple share.
