Jenna Dewan introduces the judges: Derek Hough, JLo and Ne-Yo. The all male dance team The Ruggeds are up first. They taught themselves how to dance. They have won over 30 competitions. They take the stage. They are all dressed in teal with black running pants. They pull off some huge gymnastic tricks. Ne-Yo thinks they were great but they need to add more dancing. JLo agrees. Derek noticed they were out of sync a bit but still good. They score 83.3.
Jenna talks back stage to Josh and Taylor who plan to blow JLo’s mind with their choreography. They have been working together for the last 5 years. They take the stage using a chair as a prop. They kill it with their performance. All the judges stand. JLo thinks they have chemistry. Ne-Yo loved all of their little moments. They made every piece of the song mean something. Derek loved how they used the chair. They score a 93.3. JLo challenges Derek to fit through the back of the chair like Josh did. He barely makes it.
The Lock n Lol Crew take the stage. They are an Asian male and female group. JLo tells them they need to mix up their routine. They cannot rely just on popping and locking. Ne-Yo thinks their routine lost a little energy. Derek thinks they did a good job. They make it through to the duels.
Jenna talks to a dancer named Michael from Australia. He is ready to fight to make it on World of Dance. He takes the stage. Derek gets the chills. The crowd goes wild. JLo wants to know where he has come from. Derek can see his passion. JLo thinks it was gorgeous. His routine was also dangerous with all of his moves. Ne-Yo loved it. And he thinks he is a beast to take the stage without a shirt and shoes. Derel still cannot get over his swan dive. He scores a 92.7. He thanks them.
The LD Dance Company takes the stage next in sequenced bikinis with colorful headdresses. One male dancer leads the entire female group. After their performance, Ne-Yo gets up there and puts a headdress on. They all laugh. Derek thinks they were great but not enough moves. JLo agrees. They score a 74 and fail to make it to the next round.
Jenna talks to a large kids group back stage. They are from Hawaii. They take the stage. Derek thinks their personality was off the charts. They were clean with great execution. JLo thinks they were great but they need to get polished. Ne-Yo loves the fire cracker in the middle. She starts crying and she doesn’t know why. They score 84.7. They are all crying before they huddle and leave the stage.
Jenna talks to an all male trio. One of the teen’s mothers died last year. He cries. His friends console him. They take the stage. Ne-Yo loved their moves. JLo liked the story behind it. She thinks they smashed it. Derek loved their human conveyer belt moves. Overall, they had a really strong performance. They score 89.
