Chicago Fire begins tonight with Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Emily Foster (Annie Ilonzeh) look out the window, realizing the storm keeps getting worse as the app says it should clear up before dawn. Emily feels this is her perfect excuse to cancel her date, debating whether it is a good idea to date someone within the CFD. Brett has a totally different view on dating, but Emily thinks if they find someone they really click with the rules go out the window.

Randall “Mouch” McHolland (Christian Stolte) and Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) watch the news as Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) walks in. Everyone wonders why he hasn’t been at Molly’s lately, he looks at Emily saying he has been slammed. Brian “Otis Zvonecek (Yuri Sardarov) tells him to get his butt back to the bar as he is good for business; Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) listens to the conversation, not saying a word. Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) walks into the kitchen, saying he has a crazy idea suggesting they sign up for a plane deal that will take them wherever. Severide disagrees, saying he gets two furloughs and would like to know where he is going.

The TV cuts out, causing Matt to tell Chief Boden (Wallace Eamonn) he is concerned that this storm could affect their radios or alarms. He assures them that someone is coming to fix the TV. Mouch is welcomed to wait outside for them. Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) returns with the truck, asking about the gunfire at the last call, but Herrmann has no idea what he is talking about. The truck is parked and the garage door is closing when two children push the side door open revealing their hiding spot in the truck.

Herrmann asks Chief about the power going on and off, facilities is sending someone; quickly arriving asking where the utility closet. Brett and Emily both think one of the guys is cute but as Brett is about to explain about HazMat Zack, Stella pulls Emily away. She talks about the look between her and Severide when Otis brought up that Severide doesn’t go to Molly’s. She is looking for explanations feeling she might be crazy when it comes to him. Emily says she understands, but this is Severide being Severide.

Herrmann can’t find his gloves, wandering off to the rig; he spots the side door open and slams it shut, saying he found the gloves. Matt is sent to check out the lights for the facility guys; but when a bag suddenly falls in the equipment room, he spots a young boy hiding. Matt tries to talk to him, but he doesn’t speak and won’t leave the corner. He asks him to hold on, calling Brett into the room. Brett sees the young boy crying, introducing herself asking if she can sit with him for a little bit. She moves the jackets trying to learn anything from him. She is sure someone is looking for him, asking if they can call them; Matt goes to get the Chief as Sylvie stays with him.

Matt tells everyone there is a young boy in the room who is 5 or 6. Emily goes to see if Brett needs any help. Severide wants to know if he is hurt, it is possible he was at the accident. The facility guys reveal the boy isn’t there while Matt goes to Boden’s office, the notification system goes off, causing the lights to go out. The electricians need help with a ladder to the roof as Matt explains the situation.

Boden walks over to where the little guy is, he squats down asking if he got caught up in the storm. Brett says this is the Chief who runs the entire firehouse but they need him to answer them so he can be helped. Brett asks Boden to take 61 out of service. In the bay, Boden wants to call CPD, while Emily thinks he looks traumatized. Severide will have guys walk the doors to see if he is missing locally. Emily wants to make sure the trauma isn’t physical.

Otis spots a man walking in, saying he is a firefighter driving from Detroit to Green Bay; Otis is more than willing to help out a smoke eater. John Garrett (David Fumero) offers to help, but Matt tells him they have all the help they need. Otis says he will return in a little bit and help him fix his car. John removes his jacket, checking out the firehouse with a gun on his back.

Emily asks John if she can help him, offering for him to make himself at home. He is able to find out where the kid is hiding; her completely unaware of the situation. Ritter (Daniel Kyri) returns with Tuesday walking into the kitchen as Emily tell him about the little boy and to bring Tuesday. Tuesday viciously barks at John but Ritter takes him to the room.

No one is missing a kid in the area and no Amber Alert has been reported. He is about to go through the list of missing children but it is going to take long. Matt admits the guys who are working on the electrical don’t look like the “cream of the crop.” They both leave to hang up their jackets as the others return; watching as Ritter and Sylvie try to coax out the little boy.

Otis returns to John, who says no one is claiming the boy; they have several people who walk in but never had a little boy like this. He asks John where his car is as he didn’t see it, John says it is up to the road a piece. Otis grows suspicious but John spots Sylvie carrying the little boy to one of the beds. She is going to stay with him, asking him to keep everyone out of the bunk room for the night. She doesn’t think Matt’s idea about the airlines is a crazy idea; he thinks he is going to do it and she encourages him. Matt watches her with the young boy.

Boden and Severide cannot believe how many children are missing; Boden thinking about his son, Terrence. Severide talks about when he was 7 and he would swim to a barge in the lake; discovering you could swim underneath. He pretended he had drowned causing his dad to find him, and when his dad came back up Severide was sitting on the dock, thinking it was funny; Boden sides with Benny on this one.

Matt informs everyone the bunk room is to not be disturbed. Herrmann asks John about knowing his cousin, but he has no idea. He declines to have dinner with them, claiming he ate earlier. He wants to leave, saying he it is a long way to Minnesota; a lie Otis catches him on since he said he was going to Green Bay. Otis follows him, feeling the guy is up to something. He calls John’s name, saying he should give him a tour before he goes back in the rain. Otis takes him by the arm, away from the bunk room.

Stella and Emily watch the electricians on the roof, as Emily admits she didn’t tell her the whole story, confessing that she noticed how Severide would always stare at Stella with puppy eyes and she had told him to get his life in order before he thinks of dragging her back into his crap. Stella demands to know why she said that as she doesn’t need her fighting her battles, especially when it comes to Kelly. Suddenly a lightning bolt hits the roof and one of the facility men is thrown from the roof.

Boden and the guys come in, Emily asking them to find Brett. Stella and Emily attend to him seeing the long red streak down his entire body. Otis, in the meantime, asks John about what kind of CDA they wear. Otis confronts him but is interrupted when Matt runs by to get Brett. Otis is called by Matt to help, John telling him to help, but Otis returns saying he didn’t answer his question.

EMS discover their patient is in cardiac arrest, ready to shock him. Otis tells John if he is a firefighter from Detroit he is the Dali Lama. Otis knows he is pretending to be a firefighter and wants to know what his game is; the little boy jumps up at the yelling as John knocks Otis out. John goes into the bunkroom, but when he can’t find the boy he comes back out.

Brett is able to bring him back, with a strong pulse. John drags Otis into the bathroom, concealing him. At the ambulance is about to leave, Brett is assured by Matt that he will look after the boy. The crews watch as the lights go on and off, Mouch saying its a fun night. Matt can’t find the little boy, asking John if he saw him in the bathroom. He agrees to let John help them look and to inform everyone that the boy is missing.

Stella sits by Severide, saying he doesn’t have to avoid Molly’s on her account and he should know no one speaks for her. Severide defends Emily, saying she was only looking out for her. The news comes on about the gunfire, which turns out to be a brutal homicide. Herrmann bolts to the truck where he sees a young boy’s hat. It is a double homicide as Herrmann reveals to everyone the boy hid in the rig from their last call as Ritter says it could have to do with the homicide.

Matt comes to the common room, wondering why they are not looking for the boy. Severide tells them to start searching while Herrmann tells Boden about the kid is from the last call and he could be a possible witness. They also learn that John never came downstairs. Boden goes to inform CPD as Herrmann tells him that the boy is missing. Cruz finds Otis on the floor, revealing the firefighter from Detroit is lying. Cruz shouts for Matt.

Stella finds the little boy, telling him he is okay. Matt learns what happened to Otis and runs as Stella shouts that she found the boy and he is okay. John points his gun at Stella, ordering her to move from the boy; she absolutely refuses to shout where they are and that John has a gun. Everyone chases him as Herrmann asks him what kind of man he is to follow the rig to kill a kid. John continues to point the gun at everyone while Boden tells him to get out. Severide notices the ambulance and shoves John into the front of it.

Severide and John fight until they are able to get him disarmed and on the ground. Boden calls for immediate police assistance. While Adam Rusek (Patrick John Flueger) puts him in the car, John tells him it was his partner who did the shooting after a dispute with the neighbor. CPD is working out the details but the kid witnessed the shooting and John came there to make the kid understand he didn’t see anything.

Adam tells the young boy, Logan that he did good and he is going to take him to his parents now. He asks Sylvie if she wants to go with him; she agrees, carrying him. She tells Logan that it is a pretty cool name. He says his name is Logan Miller, she tells him it is nice to hear his voice. Boden asks Stella to work on 61 until Brett gets back.

Stella walks towards Emily, saying it isn’t what she thinks. Emily felt like she was about to light her up but Stella says that is all kinds of wrong as Emily was only looking out for her. Stella admits that Severide is her blindspot; when it comes to him she sort of goes off the rails. She doesn’t blame Emily for not wanting to tell her and thanks to her for having her back. Emily promises to always take after her sister; the two women hug.

Severide watches the two with raised eyebrows. Boden says the facilities man is stable and will make a full recovery. They are sending someone else to make sure they have electricity. Boden asks Matt to go get Brett. Otis insists he is fine but he has a big bump on the back of his head. He is told by Emily to go to Chicago Med to get a scan. Cruz tells him the next time he spots a bad guy in the house, give someone a heads up. Otis is frustrated because they let that guy in because they want to trust people and someone took advantage of that and it pisses him off. Cruz says it’s the same reason the boy is alive.

Brett sits with Logan at the police station when his parents arrive, he runs into his mother’s arms as Emily watches the beautiful reunion; Matt notices Brett, saying he was dispatched there to pick her up when she was done. Matt says they look like a nice family. Brett wants to know when he is planning to go on his next adventure, suggesting they get a group together, feeling it would be a blast. Matt can’t stop looking at Brett as they say goodbye to the Miller family.

THE END!
