Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that DA Melinda Trask (Laura Kai Chen) will soon do some tough talking toward one of Salem’s finest residents. Melinda is about to quit her position as district attorney and run for mayor of Salem. That means that her entire life is about to be put under a microscope and she’ll have the press (not to mention her opponents) digging into her personal life for any flaws that might affect her ability to be mayor.
But it seems that Melinda has a secret that she’d desperately like to keep under wraps. According to Days of Our Lives spoilers, her little sister Haley Chen (Thia Megia) is an undocumented immigrant. It’s one of those things that could quickly become an issue in Melinda’s campaign, and could derail her entire candidacy if anyone found out.
Melinda’s been pressuring Haley to keep her distance and not tell anyone about her immigration status, but all the pressure led Haley to try to take her own life. In turn, that started a chain of events that has led Haley into mandatory therapy with Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), who’s determined to get to the bottom of Haley’s suicide attempt.
In the coming days, Haley will disclose her immigration status to Marlena in the course of her therapy, and it seems that eventually Melinda will find out about it. That will lead Melinda to issue Marlena a stern warning and a threat. Exactly how Melinda will threaten Marlena remains to be seen, but she could threaten to see that Marlena loses her medical license if she reveals what Haley disclosed during therapy.
Of course, Marlena only wants to help Haley and isn’t interested in breaking doctor-patient confidentiality, but her goal of helping Haley could lead her to suggest that Haley come clean about her secret and seek legal ways to become a citizen. That’s probably what Melinda is afraid of.
So, we may see Melinda actually try to interfere with her sister’s therapy process by insisting that Marlena not do anything to make Haley want to go public with her secret. It seems that Melinda would rather see Haley suffer in silence with her secret rather than get the help that she needs to be psychologically healthy.
