Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Olivia Rose Keegan (Claire Brady) is set to wrap her run in Salem this week. Her last airdate will be July 9, so DOOL fans can expect an emotional sendoff for this complex character. In the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, Keegan dished on her time at Days and the bittersweet experience of saying goodbye.
Keegan was only 15 when she started at Days of Our Lives, so she did a lot of growing up there. She suggested working on a soap opera is like “acting boot camp” since they go through so many crazy scenarios and often get just one take to get it right. Keegan credits DOOL with helping her grow as an actress, especially since her character got to go on such a wild ride.
“Claire started out as this really sweet, innocent, guitar-playing girl who was so happy,” Keegan said. She added that in the end, she was able “to play a thousand characters in one.” Claire’s journey to mental instability was a highlight for Keegan. She noted that her exit storyline was the best thing she ever got to do on the show.
Keegan admitted it was tough to shoot those scenes at the cabin. It was emotionally draining and particularly hard since Victoria Konefal (Ciara Brady) happens to be her real-life bestie! However, Keegan used those feelings and difficulties to her advantage.
“That sad, bittersweet energy of my leaving the show definitely had a positive effect on the emotional demands of those scenes,” Keegan said. As for how Claire leaves Salem, Days of Our Lives spoilers say she’ll head off to a mental hospital for treatment. Keegan assured DOOL viewers that Claire’s departure is full of hope. She’s assured by her friends and family that she can work through her issues.
Of course, that also means there’s hope for Keegan’s return. Many Days watchers are rooting for Claire to make a comeback down the road. For right now, Keegan’s pleased that Claire’s getting the help she needs. “I’m so glad it ended that way because I think she will get better,” Keegan said.
