General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Billy Miller is set to leave the role of Drew Cain (Billy Miller) behind, so it’s time to talk exit strategies. Will Drew be written out or even killed off? Will GH choose to recast Drew instead? Let’s look at what we know so far and mull over what the ABC soap might have in mind.
Miller released a goodbye statement through his manager’s Twitter account, which seemingly left the door open for his return one day. “I would be remiss in this crazy, unpredictable world we all love so much if I did not hold out the possibility that maybe our goodbye is really…UNTIL NEXT TIME,” Miller said. That could offer some hints about what we can expect for Drew.
Presumed death is still an option, but it doesn’t sound like they’re written a dead-as-a-doornail death for this character. That’s great news for Drew fans, but it doesn’t completely rule out the idea of someone else slipping into the role. After all, Miller’s just saying that you never really know what might happen down the road. GH has to focus on the here and now.
At the moment, General Hospital is finally diving into Drew’s past and toying with the idea of memories. This storyline is long overdue and could be a huge deal for the character. Will GH really have time to wrap all this up before Miller departs? Could this be paving the way for a new beginning instead?
It was unfair to wait until Miller’s exit to give him this story, but it is what it is. If a new Drew’s coming, he may be the one to fully explore Drew’s history and move beyond his old life as Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). Of course, there’s one more option and it might be the most likely. It’s possible GH will write out Drew for a while and then let a recast slide in a later.
During a chat with Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth), Drew may have offered a clue about his fate. Franco is certainly nervous about the psychic warnings he’s received. He hates the thought of something happening that could derail his happiness.
However, Drew suggested that Franco shouldn’t waste time worrying about the things he can’t see coming. Is that a hint that something’s coming for Drew, too? It’s clear that Shiloh Archer’s (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) about to stir up trouble, so there’s definitely the potential for danger here.
Drew could be snatched, land in coma or face another soapy outcome that would take him offscreen. There’s also the possibility that Drew will leave town in search of more info about his past. General Hospital spoilers say some mysteries will unravel soon, but Drew may feel like he needs the whole story.
Perhaps the answers lie outside of Port Charles, which could leave some time between Miller’s exit and a possible recast. Everything’s still up in the air, but Drew is clearly at a crossroads. It’ll be interesting to see how General Hospital handles Miller’s looming exit.
