General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) finally let fans in on some exciting news. In the episode airing August 22, Hayden took a phone call and asked to speak with “her.” She then gushed about how happy she was to hear her daughter’s voice and asked “Sweetheart” what she did today. Hayden’s brief phone call was actually pretty revealing, so let’s consider what it means.
For starters, it confirms that Hayden did indeed carry the baby to term and give birth. That was obviously the expected outcome, but GH never showed what happened after we saw a very pregnant Hayden. It’s good to know the delivery apparently went well. The kid seems happy, healthy and normal since she’s gabbing on the phone with her mom after playing.
Naturally, the biggest revelation to come from this phone call is the child’s gender. Many GH fans were rooting for a girl since we’ve already got James West and “Wiley Cooper-Jones” aka Jonah Corinthos on canvas. Hayden and Hamilton Finn’s (Michael Easton) daughter will undoubtedly make it to Port Charles eventually, so it’ll be nice to have another little girl in the mix.
Hayden’s sister, Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst), also has a house-full of rowdy boys, so the idea of a sweet princess to pamper is appealing. Plus, won’t Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) just be an adorable daddy to a little girl? That’s definitely something we can envision, but only if he’s given the opportunity!
That brings us to another interesting point. Hayden scheduled this phone call and clearly misses her daughter, but she’s putting roots down in Port Charles again. What’s her angle here? There doesn’t appear to be any kind of imminent threat. Hayden was perfectly relaxed while talking to her daughter and seems to know exactly what she’s doing.
Whatever Hayden’s plan was at the start may not be the plan now. Things got tense with Finn recently, but they’re quickly warming right back up. Their cute chemistry was on full display during those pleasant scenes at GH. Finn insisted he’s glad Hayden came back home. She muttered to herself about hoping Finn means it, so it certainly sounds like she plans on dropping the daughter bomb eventually.
Of course, WHEN Hayden will come clean is tricky. She may feel she needs to butter Finn up a bit more and grow closer to him before that happens. There’s a good chance that’s exactly how this will play out. General Hospital spoilers hint that there’ll be plenty of other opportunities for Finn and Hayden to bond.
Thanks to some stunning test results, it looks like Finn may discover Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) isn’t Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) biological child. Finn should find it appalling that Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) would deceive Nina about a daughter like that. If Finn opens up to Hayden after things blow up, it could convince her to either confess out of guilt or stay tight-lipped out of fear.
Regardless, General Hospital spoilers say Hayden and Finn seem poised to reunite sooner or later. If they’re going to get back together, Hayden can’t lie to Finn indefinitely. She’ll want to be a family, which means she’ll have to take the plunge and just tell the truth. That is unless someone finds out and beats Hayden to the punch!
Either way, Finn has little girl out there and deserves to be part of her life. Will Hayden’s daughter deception destroy their reunion? Will trying to bring their family together ruin “Fayden’s” second chance or will it all work out in time? We’ll give you updates as other GH details emerge.
