General Hospital (GH) spoilers for Monday, December 16, tease that Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) art auction will get underway. GH recently released a sneak peek video, which offers a preview of all the action. Ava mixes and mingles a bit with her guests, who are enjoying the refreshments. She eventually makes her way over to Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla), who confirms that there’s been a great turnout. Trina suggests that “pretty much everyone who’s anyone in Port Charles showed up.”
“Not everyone,” Ava replies. “Not yet anyway.” Naturally, Ava will be referring to the people she expects will want Helena Cassadine’s (Constance Towers) portrait. As Trina gazes at all the artwork up for grabs, she contends that Ava’s probably going to sell every single piece. Ava agrees it’s going to be a lucrative evening, but she obviously knows more than Trina does.
As Ava points toward the portrait, she hints that she’s most interested in seeing what happens when this particular painting goes up for auction. The preview clip cuts to a little later, when Ava’s VIPs of the evening start arriving. Laura Webber (Genie Francis) walks in with Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) before Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) comes over to join them.
Jax declares that “Ava is nothing if not shrewd” and notes that she’s giving them all a chance to buy the painting fair and square. Laura wonders if Jax thinks Ava knows about the codicil, but he can’t say. They’re all going into this not knowing exactly what Ava’s up to.
Of course, it’s a real risk to bid on this portrait without knowing for sure what’s underneath. After all, it’s doubtful Ava wants to give up her leverage. She’s presenting a portrait and offering people a shot at purchasing the art in front of them. If Ava removed the codicil beforehand, this is still a perfectly fair auction. Ava’s selling a painting – plain and simple. She doesn’t owe anybody anything else.
As for the rest of this preview, Curtis speaks with Laura alone after Jax steps away to take a call. He’s glad that Jax and his deep pockets are on their side. When Laura seems worried, Curtis tries to provide reassurance. He insists, “There is no way in hell anyone else is leaving with that portrait besides us.”
Laura looks toward the entrance, where Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) is walking in with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). “I wouldn’t be so sure about that,” Laura says nervously. General Hospital spoilers say this will indeed turn into a major bidding war. Jax will be yanked out of the battle by Nina, so the fight will be between Laura and Valentin. The bids will climb to outrageous amounts, so Ava should be delighted.
In the end, Valentin will emerge victorious – but he won’t be able to celebrate his win for long. GH fans can expect a crisis to hit soon after, and there’s a good chance it’ll involve Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez). There’s also the matter of whether or not this codicil remains under the portrait or if Ava swiped it.
