General Hospital spoilers tease that Lulu Falconeri (Emme Rylan) has some terrible news coming on Monday’s new GH episode, July 22. As GH viewers know, she recently received a big shock after Dante Falconeri (Dominick Zamprogna) ended up shooting and wounding Peter August (Wes Ramsey) after Peter and Maxie West (Kirsten Storms) tracked him down at the WSB facility in Ithaca. As it turns out, Dante is much sicker than anyone realized, even to the point of harming others.
But it also seems that the whole experience of shooting Peter will have a big impact on Dante as well. When Dante was last on canvas, he expressed deep concern that he might do something that would end up harming his family. He was shown with healed scars on his back, which were apparently inflicted by Raj Patel (Nasir Dalal) while Dante was being held by him in Turkey. Dante went through a lot when he was away, and now it’s taking its toll.
Off-screen, Dante will decide that he needs to free Lulu to move on with her life, and so she’ll be stunned when she returns from Aiden Webber’s (Jason David) birthday party and finds divorce papers from Dante waiting for her. According to General Hospital spoilers, Lulu will be completely blind-sided and beside herself with angst and despair.
For Lulu, she was hoping that Dante’s treatment with the WSB would be successful in a relatively short amount of time, but now that Dante has shot someone and reacted to the development by sending her divorce papers, it seems that she’ll have to at least entertain the idea of giving Dante what he wants and moving on with her life. After all, she can’t wait around for him forever.
And as co-head writer Shelly Altman recently told Soap Opera Digest, the possibility of divorce at this point “seemed to be realistic for the character of Lulu moving forward. She’s been alone for a long time, and because of the characters’ situation, she stands to be alone for a very long time ahead.” And doesn’t Lulu deserve some happiness and companionship down the line?
Of course, fans would love to see Lulu and Dante somehow reunite, and for Dante to overcome his psychological difficulties quickly, but that doesn’t seem to be in the cards right now. Rather, it looks like Lulu will ultimately decide to give Dante what he wants and grant him the divorce. It will be a tough road for Lulu, but it’s a necessary move to free her up for a new romance when the time is right.
As GH fans know, there already seems to be a man on the scene who’s interested in Lulu, and that’s Dustin Phillips (Mark Lawson), who appeared briefly recently as one of the “dates” that Lulu had arranged in her capacity as an investigative reporter for The Invader. Of course, it will likely take Lulu quite some time to move on from Dante and consider seeing someone else.
At any rate, it looks like Lulu will be in for some tough times coming up as she copes with the very real likelihood of becoming single again. Will you be sad to see Lulu and Dante split up?
