General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) has a soft spot for DA Margaux Dawson (Elizabeth Hendrickson), much to the chagrin of many GH fans. After Margaux first came onto the scene and declared her intention to take down Sonny and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), Sonny treated her as a threat and vowed to go after her hard.
But then things changed drastically. Sonny watched Margaux’s heart break when she learned that her mother was responsible for instigating her father’s death all those years ago. Margaux was devastated by the revelation, and Sonny’s demeanor toward Margaux suddenly changed.
Now Sonny and Margaux seem to have an understanding between them, with Sonny going about his coffee importing business and Margaux looking the other way provided that Sonny doesn’t flaunt his “real” business too much. There’s definitely a spark there that even Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) notices.
Many fans aren’t thrilled with that spark between Sonny and Margaux, and there’s been a lot of speculation about what, if anything, will ever happen between them romantically. Well, finally Maurice Benard has spoken out on a possible Sonny and Margaux hookup.
Maurice was recently interviewed by Parade Magazine and he was asked point blank about whether he’s a fan of keeping Sonny and Carly together or whether he’s a fan of Sonny getting together with Margaux.
Here’s Maurice’s answer: “I’m a fan of keeping the couple [Sonny and Carly] together, but I’m also a fan of Margaux and Sonny because I think it adds spice, which is needed. I don’t think they should sleep together, but I think they should have an emotional connection that is perceived differently from maybe other people.”
But of course, just because Maurice thinks Sonny and Margaux’s connection is best left emotional (as opposed to sexual) doesn’t mean that’s how things will remain on the show Whether TPTB will eventually have Sonny and Margaux hook up remains to be seen and will surely stay the topic of fan debate.
