General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that viewers are in for a treat this Monday, December 23rd. GH will air a special standalone episode for the Christmas holiday based on the Charles Dickens novel “A Christmas Carol” and starring Michael Easton as Ebenezer Scrooge. In this fantasy episode, Scrooge will be visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Yet To Come, and Scrooge will learn something along the way.
As you may know, in the original “A Christmas Carol,” the character of Ebenezer Scrooge is an elderly miser who has zero Christmas spirit and is cold to his overworked and underpaid clerk, Bob Cratchit. Scrooge is then visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley, who warns him that his miserly ways will lead him to a place of despair and eternal unrest – unless he listens to the three spirits who will soon visit him.
Well, from the looks of the GH promo, the three spirits who ultimately visit Scrooge will be based on the characters of Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), Ava Jerome (Maura West), and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy). It’s unclear which spirit each of them plays, but they’re each shown with Michael Easton’s version of Scrooge, clearly leading him through his journey of awakening.
Scrooge’s clerk Bob Cratchit will be based on the character of Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth), and his family will aptly consist of characters based on Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst), Cameron Webber (William Lipton), and Aiden Webber (Jason David). Aiden appears to play the role of Tiny Tim, who is Bob’s son who is terribly ill in the story.
At any rate, the scenes that are shown in the promo look downright entertaining. For example, the spirit embodied by Liesl bids Scrooge a hearty hello, and Scrooge scoffs at some poor children – one of which is embodied by the character of Violet Barnes (Jophielle Love).
The spirit based on the character of Ava looks pretty menacing and is likely the spirit of Christmas Yet To Come, since during that portion of the story Scrooge falls into an open grave designed just for him. Another character is based on Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson), as she’s shown for a brief flash during the promo.
It will be interesting to see General Hopsital’s take on this classic Charles Dickens tale, as Michael Easton’s Scrooge is ultimately transformed into a kinder, gentler man. After his visits with the spirits, Scrooge awakens on Christmas morning with a new outlook on life and good deeds to do. It’s a great holiday story and should be a great GH episode.
It looks like we’re in for a great holiday episode, so stay tuned! We’ll give you updates as GH news comes in. Stick with the ABC soap and don’t forget to check CDL often for the latest General Hospital spoilers, updates, and news.
