General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Nelle Benson’s (Chloe Lanier) time in prison seems to have shifted her perspective. GH fans know Nelle’s had messy, uncertain motives at times. General Hospital writers tried to redeem Nelle at one point, which led to private moments where we knew Nelle genuinely cared about Michael. The look of longing in Nelle’s eyes told the story.
However, GH viewers just couldn’t get on board with “nice Nelle.” That led to some rewrites and the crazy, dangerous version we have now. Even so, Nelle’s recent comments suggest that her obsession with Michael may be returning. She did seem to love him once upon a time – at least as much as Nelle’s capable of love. Nelle was willing to plot Michael’s murder in the end, so it’s complicated!
During her chat with Brad Cooper (Parry Shen), Nelle suspected that Michael had been able to truly move on or get over her. She was pleased by that idea and showed a hint of jealousy over his Nurses Ball date. Nelle was quick to ask who was with Michael on the red carpet.
Brad advised Nelle to stop living in the past, but she’s not the kind of gal who just lets stuff go. Does delusional Nelle believe she still has a shot with Michael? She blames Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) for all their problems, so she may think there’s still a chance at happiness as a family. Nelle might want to break out of prison, get Jonah Corinthos back and raise him with Michael.
Of course, there are many, MANY problems with that plan. The thing is Nelle’s not a rational person. In fact, it seems like her sanity’s slipping even more now that she’s locked up. Perhaps her mind has had too much time to wander and find its way to dark places.
Even if Nelle skips the reuniting with Michael part, Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) could be in grave danger. Nelle could take on the mentality of “If I can’t have him, no one else can either.” Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) could also be at risk if Nelle notices her bond with Michael, and she easily could since she’ll escape from prison soon.
Nevertheless, Nelle’s most interested in learning who Sasha is for now. Could Sasha get injured or even end up dead? Could that set up the fake daughter reveal and devastate Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) in more than one way?
