General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that we’re in for a sad week, April 29-May 3, as Oscar Nero Quartermaine (Garren Stitt) nears the end of his life. The GH video preview for this week is all about Oscar’s final days and the impact of his impending death on his friends and family members, as they struggle to cope with the unthinkable and pray for a miracle that will never come.
It appears that a good portion of this week on GH will be devoted to Oscar’s death. The show plans a special episode on Wednesday, May 1, devoted to Oscar’s imminent death, so viewers won’t want to miss any of the dramatic scenes throughout the week and on that day in particular.
So, what can viewers expect this week? The promo begins with Oscar and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) at Charlie’s Pub, with a variety of friends and family standing in the background. Oscar tells the group, while looking squarely at Josslyn, “I just want you to know how much I love each and every one of you.”
The promo also keys in on the struggle that Oscar’s parents will be facing this week. Drew Cain (Billy Miller) is shown getting support from his friend Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth). Drew tells Franco that his son is dying, barely able to hold back tears, while Franco offers his sympathy.
Kim Nero (Tamara Braun) is also shown in a tender moment with Drew. The two are talking about Oscar, and Kim notes that, “He’s fighting with everything he’s got.” Oscar will likely try to hold on as long as he can, to spend as many precious moments with his parents and Josslyn as possible.
The effects of Oscar’s demise will hit other people hard, too. Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) is shown reaching out to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). She’s in severe emotional pain and breaks down in Jason’s arms. Elsewhere, Cameron Webber (William Lipton) is shown breaking down as well, crying and sliding down a wall, devastated over the loss of his best friend.
Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) is also heard in the promo, voicing her deep concern for her daughter’s emotional well-being. “It’s torture seeing your kid in so much pain,” she says. Josslyn is shown crying and in deep pain over losing her first love, but remaining brave and strong for Oscar.
The final scenes of the new GH promo appear to show some of Oscar’s final moments. Oscar is lying in bed peacefully with Kim at his side and Drew sitting nearby. Josslyn is leaning over Oscar and says, “If you can hear me, I love you.” It looks like Oscar will pass peacefully in the presence of Josslyn, Drew, and Kim.
It certainly looks like GH viewers are in for a sad and touching week, as Oscar says his goodbyes. Of course, Oscar’s journey may end peacefully, but for his friends and family, their journey of grief and loss will just be beginning.
