General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) will pay a visit to Nathan West’s (Ryan Paevey) grave. GH fans know Nathan was technically Nina’s cousin, but they were raised as siblings. She affectionately referred to her brother as “J” and misses him terribly. Nathan’s life was cut short tragically and now his young son, James West, is growing up without a father.
On November 7, Nina will talk to Nathan and reflect on the continued sting of this loss. Grief is something that tends to fade with time, but it’s always buried under the surface. When you lose someone who matters to you, there are inevitably going to be moments when you wish you could lean on them.
Nina will undoubtedly wish she could have more than this one-sided conversation, but this is how it has to be. Will Nina admit she’s playing Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) during this chat? It’d be a good way for GH to confirm that without letting anyone else in on the secret. It could just be between Nina and Nathan.
Regardless, Nina will surely have something on her mind or else she wouldn’t take this random trip to the cemetery. General Hospital usually does this kind of scene when a character has something to get off his or her chest. It makes sense for Nina to confide in Nathan so to speak.
Of course, it’s nice that Nathan’s being mentioned and his memory’s being kept alive. Many GH fans miss Nathan and wouldn’t mind if he were the next character to come back from the dead. Although Nathan died on screen, pretty much any death can be undone in the soap world. When you can use doppelgangers and all kinds of medical miracles, there’s no death to permanent to fix.
In a recent issue of Soap Opera Digest, Kathleen Gati (Liesl Obrecht) was asked which costar she most wanted to see return and why. Gati immediately thought of Paevey. “I loved my relationship with my son, Nathan,” Gati said. She mentioned Paevey as her first choice and added Thaao Penghlis (ex-Victor Cassadine on GH, currently playing Tony DiMera on Days of Our Lives) as a second one.
Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) is headed for heartbreak thanks to Peter August’s (Wes Ramsey) lies. It’d be nice to see Nathan reunite with Maxie – either in the form of Paevey or a recast. However, that might be something that’d have to come down the road. You can only do so many back-from-the-dead stories at one time!
Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) has just returned, so General Hospital will follow his story for now. Later though? Who knows! Perhaps there’s a chance Nathan will make a comeback someday.
