General Hospital (GH) spoilers review for Thursday, October 24, reveal that Franco Baldwin’s (Roger Howarth) competency hearing continued. Elizabeth Baldwin’s (Rebecca Herbst) testimony wrapped up with her admitting that it was a mistake to keep Jake Doe’s identify from him, and that what Kim Nero (Tamara Braun) is currently doing is a mistake, too. Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) testified as well, making a pretty good case for why DNA doesn’t “make” a person.
Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) testified next, with Martin Gray (Michael E. Knight) getting him to say that he valued “Drew’s” life over Franco’s. This upset Cameron Webber (William Lipton) terribly, and he later tearfully confronted Jason about it, upset that Jason didn’t just admit that Franco was Franco. Kim testified next about all of the things that “Drew” remembers and how he’s clearly Drew.
But once Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) got the opportunity to cross-examine Kim, he quizzed her about what she’d be doing if Cameron’s memories had been put into Oscar Nero Quartermaine’s (Garren Stitt) brains – would she still think the young man was Cameron? Kim faltered and didn’t really know how to respond. Then Scott asked Kim how far she’d go to hold onto Oscar and asked her if she drugged Drew Cain (Billy Miller) and tried to have a baby with him against his will.
It will be interesting to see how Kim responds to this. GH spoilers indicate that she’ll confess to the drugging, which she really has no choice but to do at this point. It doesn’t look great for Franco’s case, but the really important moment in the case will be Franco’s own testimony. It looks like everything will likely come down to how Franco comes across to the judge and whether he appears to be fully aware of who he is and what he wants.
Meanwhile, Dev Cerci (Ashton Arbab) showed up at Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) gallery with a paining that he had found – a painting that turned out to be the portrait of Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) that Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) are looking for. Ava ended up buying the portrait from Dev, who was thrilled to make a quick buck.
While this was going on, Curtis and Laura were across town putting their heads together about the painting. Of course, they had no idea that the it had surfaced at Ava’s gallery, but Curtis did have an idea about tracking down the artist who painted the portrait. The artist, J. Garrin, turned out to be a famous painter who is known for hiding codes and clues in his works. Laura and Curtis deduced that the codicil might be underneath the painting, and that there was a real need to find it if at all possible.
One wonders whether Laura and Curtis will find the painting before Ava discovers the mystery behind the painting. Ava told Trina Johnson (Sydney Mikayla), her new intern, that she loved to crack the mysteries in J. Garrin’s paintings. Ava might discover the clues to the location of the codicil without knowing the significance of what she’s uncovered.
Finally. Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) faced the music with Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton), who demanded to know why Hayden hadn’t told him about his daughter. Hayden and Finn did a lot of talking, but the bottom line was that Hayden was a wreck when she left and didn’t want to make Finn’s life a mess. Then, when she asked him to meet her in Rome, she was prepared to tell him, but afterwards didn’t approach him about their daughter because he was with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes).
Hayden admitted that she never stopped loving Finn and wanted to fall back into his arms in Rome, but that it was too late. Finn accepted Hayden’s story, but ultimately he didn’t understand how she could keep his daughter from him. Still, they seemed to make peace by the end of their conversation, and they went together in the room to see their daughter.
