Hallmark Channel news has some great information to pass on about a new Christmas movie starting Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth that premieres this Saturday, December 7th at 8pm Eastern. It’s a Hallmark Hall of Fame Original Movie called “A Christmas Love Story” and for music fans, this movie isn’t one to miss.
Kristin Chenoweth is a renowned TV actress in addition to her musical accomplishments. She’s appeared on the TV series Glee, Pushing Daisies, and BoJack Horsemen to name just a few. She plays the part of Katherine in the movie, who’s a youth choir director.
Also starring in the movie as the male lead is Scott Wolf. You may remember Scott from his roles in Saved By The Bell, Party of Five, Everwood, and V. He’s also currently appearing in Nancy Drew. He plays the role of Greg in the movie, who is a widower who comes into Katherine’s orbit when she wants his son Danny (played by Kevin Quinn) to sing in a Christmas Eve show.
Greg isn’t too enthused about his son spending time practicing music, however. He’d much rather that Danny focus on getting to college. But things change as the two adults become attracted to each other and develop a budding romance.
In the behind-the-scenes feature for “A Christmas Love Story, Kristin Chenoweth had the following to say: “I play Katherine, who is a former Broadway star turned into a choir director. She’s changing lives of these young kids with their music, which is her heart and passion.”
She continued: “What’s been the most fun – I’ve been working with the choir kids and watching them – seeing their faces and me standing in front of them and conducting. them. The music is a very important aspect. And she may or may not find love along the way. Also, I think it’s a great message of what all different kinds of families look like. Families are DNA and also what we’ve chosen. That’s also a big message in the film, too.”
The movie is directed by Eric Close, who also spoke in the behind-the-scenes feature about the great music in the film. “We get to hear all these amazing songs and all these voices coming together and then the really special duet between Katherine and Danny…all these songs are incredible, especially the final song.”
And of course, there’s the typical love and romance aspect of the movie, which Scott Wolf explained: “This movie has all the things people have come to expect. It has love, it has family, it has romance.” That’s great news for Hallmark Channel movie buffs!
