HTGAWM begins tonight with Nate Sr. being escorted into a room, where he is confused that he thought he was meeting his lawyer; but he isn’t buying who the man is. He doesn’t think Nate Sr. doesn’t understand the severity of what is going on, as he will regret leaving his life in the hands of Annalise (Viola Davis) and her law student. He warns Nate that he is going to regret this and leaves.

Laurel (Karla Souza) apologizes to Nate (Billy Brown) as she watches the footage Frank (Charlie Weber) brought to her of her brother talking to Nate Sr. Laurel isn’t defending his brother, Jorge as Annalise blame everyone’s death on her; she promises to fix this and Annalise turns on Frank saying it was his penis that decided to choose Laurel and now she wants out of this life as it is hell. Her screaming wakes up little Christopher, causing Annalise to pick up her godson and comfort him.

Connor(Jack Falahee), Asher (Matt McGorry), Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) and Michaela (Aja Naomi King) want to test the recent gift they got got DNA and put it on their murder board. They are surprised to learn Michaela is looking into finding her birth parents. Laurel returns, sharing that Annalise hates her.

The Agent comes to see Gabriel (Rome Flynn), who is told Annalise is a genius and that is why she isn’t in jail. Gabe is given a file that shows him a picture of his mother’s ex, and is told to choose his mother or Annalise. Meanwhile, Annalise sits in church where the Governor comes to see her; Annalise says Emmett’s (Timothy Hutton) phone log are fake and she is sure the governor had something to do with it. She demands to know who dug up her adoption records, wondering if it was DA Miller. She blames Annalise for ruining her life with a lie she started; but Annalise denies having anything to do with investigating her. She doesn’t know which is more fake, the governor or the phone records; but she tells Annalise she is handing over the phone records.

Tegan (Amirah Vann) calls Annalise, who says she will take care of it; Annalise admits they were wrong as Tegan worries they will come after her next and she is staying out of it. Frank and Nate sit with Bonnie (Liza Weil) as Nate insists they don’t use any more assumptions. He reveals Miller didn’t rat out who he was working with so they cannot guess any more.

Miller was on the phone talking about Bonnie when Laurel’s brother approached him, asking if he really wants to be DA? He sits with Ron, saying he wants to be the permanent guy and they can offer him everything, just like Denver. Ron reminds him that his father is in jail for killing Denver, but he places the blame on Annalise, saying she knew about Denver’s plan to put her away so she made sure it didn’t happen. He had proof but says he will buy Ron’s campaign so they can get back at Annalise. It is there that he learns about her supreme court client.

Michaela wants to eat away her feelings, but Asher doesn’t want to eat as everyone on their murder board is somehow on them. He reminds her about the giftbag head of Laurel’s mother in the other room. Michaela gets a message from Gabriel who said it was urgent. Laurel talks with Oliver and Connor, as she doesn’t think Frank and Annalise should be her son’s godparents; she wants to make sure just in case something happens to her. She drew up legal guardianship papers with their names on them, as she feels this is best for Christopher. She knows he will get love from the two of them as they have more of that than any of the others.

Annalise comes to see Emmett, saying he needs to hire her as a lawyer. She needed Jorge Castillo to believe she framed him. She is promising to get him out of there so he can run for DA. Frank tells Bonnie the plan as she is reviewing the phone calls, there is no way Ron was planning to kill Sr as he was with her at her sister’s the whole time and he definitely was not that type of guy. She recalls her conversation with Ron and him talking to her about his day. He vents about he is too nice and wonders how she would feel if he didn’t run for DA. She encourages him to do it his own way and not get into bed with all these shady people. They exchange I love yous as Ron sits in his office, pondering what to do. He eventually pulls out the private phone and calls Castillo, agreeing to do it and asking what they need from him.

Nate finds Liam in the garage, saying he gave Bonnie the paperwork to cover hiss ass. He wants to know if Xavier Castillo was involved in his father’s transfer. He says the only person he spoke to is Miller about it; who pushed him to make an exception of a night transfer. Nate says the story doesn’t make any sense, as his father would have never reached for a gun. Nate calls Bonnie collect, saying things got heated with the Warden, he will need her help. He says Sykes told him Miller was forceful about the night transf3er. Frank pushes Bonnie saying Miller is obviously guilty.

Annalise shows the FBI proof that Castillo went to see Nate Sr and obviously the phone records were completely fabricated by the Castillos; she suggests that they speak to Jorge who is in their custody. They question why he would do this to hit back at Annalise. Emmett reminds them that Annalise wouldn’t have him as a client if he killed another one of her clients. They produce a recording from his office and ask if he would like a different lawyer.

Gabe shows Michaela the file the FBI showed him; she feels the agent is bluffing but Gabriel worries about his mother serving time for murder. She realizes the drugs was Gabriel, but he won’t reveal anything until she is a lawyer. Michaela returns to the house and shouts for Laurel to come downstairs, demanding to know if she met with the Agent so she could offer her immunity? Laurel admits to meeting with the agent, asking for a deal about her mom. She said the agent did bring up an immunity deal, but she didn’t bring it up to avoid all of this. Michaela feels none of them can believe anything that comes out of her mouth anymore. She insists she is loyal to all of them, just like they are loyal to her.

Annalise tells Tegan to represent Emmett as she cant because of the recording in his office. She says Tegan is the only one who knows the Castillos, but that is what she is afraid of them as Annalise encourages her to do it anyways. Annalise comes to see Nate, saying Bonnie is working on getting him out of jail as the witnesses are saying he didn’t just push the guy. She orders him to stop using his fist to get answers or they will all end u-p behind bars.

Frank chokes one of the guards with a rope in her car, demanding she tell him who ordered the hit on Sr. He gives her a chance to breathe as she says she got paid by Xavier Castillo!

The FBI agents return to see Emmett, and Tegan says she is there as a material witness; she reveals she is Jane Doe and is willing to testify to what is going on with the phone records. She is willing to take the risk as she knows Emmett has no involvement in any murder. He says the Castillos would want to frame him as he is running for DA and the Castillos know he can’t be bought.

Laurel asks everyone if they can kiss and make up but Oliver says no and he is the nice guy. Asher brings information to them that will help Gabriel and Laurel’s mother. They feel they can use it to go to the FBI and fix this but Laurel fears this is a warning that if they do go to the FEDS, her and Christopher will be dead next. Asher says this was his best idea.

Annalise worries when Frank tells her that he can be very convincing and the guard is telling the truth. She questions him about what happened to him being a better Frank, but he says its better for everyone if he is just Frank. Annalise calls Laurel, asking if she is ready to do what she promised – fixing it for all of them. Laurel bumps into Xavier, who is happy to see his sister but not too thrilled when Annalise pops up from behind the wall, asking if he is happy to see her too.

Gabe leaves Michaela a message, saying he is used to handling things on his own, although he had hoped someone smarter than him could help him this time. Michaela feels sorry for him, saying he has no one as they still have each other. Michaela reminds him that Annalise would take action now and ask for forgiveness later. Asher says if the vote isn’t unanimous they won’t do it.

Laurel confronts her brother about the video footage, and paying the guards to kill Sr. Annalise says they wanted to and tried with burning up her house or scalping her head. He denies knowing what she is talking about, but Laurel says it is what he did to their mom.

Asher comes to see the agents about Laurel and says she is too afraid to come and gives them the giftbag with Laurel’s mother’s head inside. He says they believe she was killed by her son. Xavier tells his sister he hasn’t seen her in months and it was Laurel who seen her last. Laurel accuses her brother of turning into their dad.

Connor is busy hanging out with baby Christopher as Oliver watches, saying if Laurel doesn’t die they should consider having a baby themselves. Meanwhile, Annalise questions Xavier about the promises he made to Miller and since he couldn’t win him over as Ron played him. Ron was supposed to do the transfer in the morning, but pulls the night transfer early to avoid it. Annalise taunts Xavier, saying he failed at everything; but he says he didn’t fail.

Miller watches the news as Xavier calls him, saying it was a nice try to do an early transfer, but if he plays him again he will take out everyone he loves, starting with his girlfriend. They continue to battle it out with their minds, as Xavier promises he will always be there for Laurel all she needs to do is contact him. Annalise says he is as boring as he thinks, but he lost this round as the FBI has everything they need to arrest him and if he turns himself in, he might be able to share a cell with is father. Laurel insists he and their father let her go. Once they leave, Xavier calls the governor, saying they know more than that thought; she tells him this gives them no choice!

Asher returns, saying this is a celebration as they got an agent fired, even if it means Xavier will come and kill them. He asks who wants a shot, but stops when he sees Oliver and Connor’s glum faces asking them, “Please say no one else is dead!” Connor says Michaela might be when she finds this out. They found her birth father, his name is Dwight and its someone Annalise knew. Michaela tells Gabriel that she solved his problem and he kisses her quickly in gratitude. She pauses unsure but then admits they deserve to feel good for once. The agent calls Mrs. Maddox, saying she needs to talk about her son, Gabriel.

Emmett shares a drink with Tegan, who says she iss a gin girl and tells him not to move until she comes back. The governor holds a press conference, admitting her office is being investigated but the allegations are nothing but lies and she has no choice but to speak her truth. The guard meets with Bonnie, saying she is being threatened and wants to tell the truth; Bonnie says she can only make a deal if she knows the truth. She is told it was DA Miller who gave the order.

Frank talks to Annalise about figuring out the rest of it as Miller ordered the move to happen at night to avoid this; he was innocent. She insists everyone cannot know that. Frank is the one who met with the gurd later, telling her to ask for a deal and it was Miller who ordered the hit and paid them. Governor Birkhead feels this is a smear campaign and fake news.

Bonnie finds Nate, saying it was Ron; he tells her that it is done. She reveals in the news conference that the FBI is protecting a person of interest who is protected by a powerful law firm. Laurel is shocked to learn that Miller was innocent. She tears up as she thanks Annalise for everything she has done to protect her, but Annalise only wants to get home. Birkhead’s news continues as she points her finger at Emmett on live TV.

Meanwhile, Emmett Crawford is dying on his office floor as Tegan says she is supposed to be drinking with him right now. Annalise tells her to keep him calm until she gets there and she won’t allow the hitmen to come there. Annalise turns around calling out Laurel’s name, wondering where she is. Frank barges in demanding to know where Christopher is and is he tells Annalise that he is gone too. Frank informs Annalise that “they have taken them!” She shouts out for Laurel in the street.

THE END!
