Tonight on CBS their reboot of the classic series Magnum P.I. premieres with an all-new Monday, January 21, 2019, episode and we have your Magnum P.I.recap below. On tonight’s Magnum P.I. season 1 episode 13, “Day of the Viper,” as per the CBS synopsis, “Magnum and Higgins are shocked when one of her former MI6 teammates shows up with a fresh gunshot wound and news that “the Viper,” the assassin who killed Higgins’ true love, has surfaced on Oahu.
Also, while Magnum’s busy helping Higgins track down the Viper, he asks Rick to take over a case, a task that Rick relishes until it goes sideways.”

Magnum is in a hotel suite eating a sundae when Higgins calls. She yells at him for not fixing the intercom system and for using their client’s suite. Suddenly the alarm goes off and the phone goes dead. Magnum rushes home and finds Higgins tending to a man’s wounds. It is an old friend of hers, Ian from her MI6 days. He is on the island chasing someone who knows the identity of Viper, an assassin they have been after for a long time. Viper murdered the man Higgins loved.
Ian went to meet the woman Fiona who knows Viper’s identity. She sussed out that he was MI6 so she shot him. Magnum wants to help. Meanwhile, Rick poses as Magnum to meet with some new clients for him.
Higgins and Magnum head to the warehouse where Ian visited. They pose as sellers there to meet Fiona. She tells them the information is no longer for sale. Higgins takes out one of her security guards and demands the info. Fiona tells her that her source backed out after Ian paid them a visit. All she has is an IP address.
Back at home, Ian tells Magnum while they are alone that Higgins was disavowed after chasing after Viper, who murdered her fiancee. They had planned to resign and start a family together but he died before they could. Higgins tracks down the source and snaps a pic of him off of his laptop camera after she hacks into. His name is Jing and he is a foreign diplomat. Higgins wants to go and get him. Magnum cannot believe she wants to kidnap him but he is in.
Rick does some PI work for Magnum with the help of TC who makes fun of him for his bad skills. TC tries to show how smooth he is by dropping his phone into a nearby potted plant to listen in on their target. The mane tells TC he dropped his phone. Rick laughs.
Higgins and Magnum hatch a plan to steal the identity of a Mr. Gomez and his wife in order to gain access to a party where Jing will be. TC helps to bring the real couple out in the middle of nowhere while they pose.
Magnum asks Higgins what she plans to do if Jing doesn’t talk. She grabs her gun. He’ll talk, she tells him. Meanwhile, Rick takes pictures of his targets and gets into a bit of a chase with them when they spot him watching.
Higgins and Magnum make their way in the party. Higgins sticks a gun in the plant outside on the walk in. A woman attending the party questions Magnum who is posing as Mr. Gomez, a professor. He answers perfectly. Higgins is impressed he did his research.
Magnum and Higgins make their way out of the party and further down the compound to find Jing. Rick calls and tells Magnum he got fired from their job. He is new at being a PI and now they are suing Magnum who hangs up. He doesn’t have time for this.
Higgins and Magnum find Jing and grab him. Higgins tells him he better tell them what they need to know or they will kill him. As they attempt to take him out of the area the alarm goes off. Higgins demands the name she needs or she will kill him. Security arrives with guns raised. Higgins backs off after Magnum tells her to stop. Magnum and Higgins are taken out in cuffs. TC calls Kamu to ask for Ian to get help. Kamu tells her he is gone. TC watches the police outside and notices one with a limp, its Ian.
TC hits the cop car with Magnum and Higgins. After the officers get out, TC jumps in and tells them what he just saw. Higgins thinks Ian could be Viper and he is there to silence Jing. They head back to them both.
Ian breaks into Jing’s room and kills him. Magnum and Higgins arrive. They see Ian and chase him. He shoots at them as he tries to run away. Higgins jumps on a bike to get after him. She stops him in an alleyway. He drops his gun. Higgins raises her and yells at him. He took her future. Magnum begs her to drop the gun. He’s done for.
The next day, Rick talks to Magnum’s client and apologizes. The man thanks him. He is glad he found out about the crazy family. Rick tells him that the father was only looking out for his daughter. The man thinks it over.
Higgins shows up to see Magnum. They drink a beer. She shows him what Richard looks like. He was a good man just like you, she tells him. Magnum is surprised to get the compliment.
