On tonight’s Masterchef Junior episode as per the FOX synopsis, “The Top 16 home cooks face a sticky situation when they are divided into three teams and tasked with a Gordon masterclass – make as many stunning English trifles as possible in under 20 minutes. Only one team proves they have enough creativity and finesse to bypass the elimination round, the remaining home cooks are challenged to make three identical sliders.
Not only are there big stakes at hand—the winner will receive a special advantage worthy of the effort—but the cooks also bring heart to the table as they reveal how their cultural heritages influence their cooking styles.”

The challenge is to make a dessert that originated in the UK but is now popular in the USA, trifle. For this challenge, they are going to be split into three teams of five. In their teams, they have to master all five layers of trifle and the entire winning team will get a huge advantage in the next advantage.
There is a huge life-size trifle and the home cooks have to dig in to find a token which will tell them which team they are on; time to get messy. Matthew gets a gold token, it is the VIP and he goes straight up to the balcony. On the Green Team are Reid, Ben, Che, Evie, and Jaala. On the Yellow Team, we are Aaron, Malia, Kate, Jayden, and Nayeli. On the Red Team are Kyle, Brielle, Sadie, Ivy, and Rashad. As a team, they have to make as many stunning trifles as they can in 20 minutes, only the best will count for their final tally.
They have counted the trifles and rendered a decision. Each team has to stand in a vat of cake and pull a cord if they are doused with pudding, they lose. The green team is the first group to lose and get extremely messy. Its time to find out who had the most exceptional trifles, it is the red team. The yellow team pull their cord and are also doused with pudding, they lost by one trifle. Gordon goes down to the red team and douses them with pudding just for fun.
Red team goes up to the balcony. The home cooks in the yellow and green teams have to make one of Gordon’s favorite sliders, the home cooks have to make 3 of their choice; from tuna, beef or portobello mushroom. Gordon gives them a one by one lesson in cooking the sliders.
The home cooks head to their stations and begin their challenge, they have 45 minutes. Ben made oyster sliders deep fried in potato chips, Gord says they are phenomenal, restaurant quality. Che made Crab Cake Sliders, Aaron says it is dry and he cannot distinguish what fish it is because he pureed it. Nayeli made Beef Sliders, Gord says they are beautifully seasoned but not cooked well. Malia made shrimp sliders, Christina says they are delicious but a bit puny. Reid made Southern State Sliders, Aaron says he did a great job.
Aaron made Beef Sliders, Gord says the seasoning is great, but he has to be careful on the size. Jayden made Turkey Sliders with grilled pineapple. Christina says the turkey is undercooked, but the rest is great. Evie made Cheese Stuffed Sliders, but she only made two because she ran out of time; Gord says they are delicious and would like to put a version of it on his menu and give her a royalty.
The best dish of the night goes to Ben. Unfortunately, we have to say goodbye to some of the home cooks. Christina calls the following children to the front; Jayden, Nayeli and Che. Christina says that all of their sliders were not at Master Chef level and two of them will be going home. Che is safe. Jayden and Nayeli will be going home.
