General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) is tackling an exciting new challenge. According to ABC Soaps in Depth, the GH star signed a new publishing deal. It turns out Benard has been hard at work on his autobiography, which is set to be released in April 2020.
Benard will naturally talk about his soap roles in this book. He’s spent many years playing Sonny Corinthos on General Hospital and Nico Kelly on All My Children before that. Benard undoubtedly has plenty of stories and secrets from his days on set, but this autobiography will go much deeper than that. It’ll also let Benard open up about a tough battle and hopefully help others out there who are suffering.
Benard is bipolar and often speaks up as an advocate for mental health. He wants to truly make a difference, so that’s a huge reason why he wants to put this book out in the world. Benard has faced some difficult struggles throughout his life, so he’s hoping to share them and shine a light on important issues.
Of course, there’ll be some humorous moments included in this autobiography as well. It’s going to be a mixed bag that accurately represents Benard’s messy experiences and the fascinating life he’s lived. Luckily, Benard’s already close to wrapping things up as he works toward that April release next year.
“I’m really excited,” Benard said in an interview with SID. “The book is pretty much done – and it’s pretty intense, as you would imagine. It’s about my life, and you guys are going to be tripping, because there’s a lot of stuff in it that’s dark, funny, cool, sexy. I can’t wait.”
Benard also mentioned this big news on his Twitter account and engaged with some thrilled fans. When one of them asked if the book would be available for pre-order, Benard was quick to confirm it and offer more comments about how excited he is.
“The excitement I have for this book is 2nd to none,” Benard tweeted. “So proud to be doing it @HarperCollins We are so on the same page it’s scary!!! Yes you and the world,will be able to pre-order.”
