James (Mehcad Brooks) takes drastic measures to relieve his PTSD.”

Kara is working in her apartment when a couple of robbers try to steal with a trucker. With Supergirl taking a break, Nia steps up and takes them out. Back at base Brainy is upset. She almost got caught. They need to stay under the radar especially given the nations state and their stance against aliens.
Alex, Brainy and Lena work on Jimmy with the help of his sister. Meanwhile, Kara works her way through some files. She picks up on a phone call nearby. Franklin’s sister works at Ameriteck. Kara wants to talk to her, she is writing an article on Lex. Nia shows up. Kara shares that once she finishes her article and clears Supergirl’s name she can help fight again.
Brainy tells Jimmy that he may be able to fix the symptoms but he cannot get rid of his superpowers. Across the city, Lockwood is teaching George how to pick up illegal aliens and take them in.
Out to meet Franklin’s sister, Kara elbows a thief trying to run off with a woman’s purse. Franklin’s sister shows up. They talk about Ameriteck. It has gotten bad there. Kara hopes to expose the company. They head there while Kara takes a look around in the dark. She finds military paperwork with the name Sebastian Melmoth but before she can get more Franklin’s sister gets cold feet and runs off.
Brainy uses his mind palace to look back at some of Jimmy’s memories. They trigger lots of hurt between his sister and him. They each vent to Alex and Brainy separately. Meanwhile, Kara works to figure out the connection with Sebastian. She heads to see Lena. She tells her how she plans to expose Lex and take him down. She asks if L-Corp has done business with Ameriteck. Lena is too busy working with Jimmy.
Lena is hurt that Kara hasn’t been around. On the other side of the city Nia patrols the night. She finds several aliens staying together with children. Suddenly Lockwood’s men come in to take them away. Nia fights them off but it isn’t over, just for tonight. She heads home to tell Kara. The people feel hopeless and Nia doesn’t know what to do. Kara feels hopeless as to how she could help. Kara comes up with an idea – she will introduce the world to Dreamer in an article.
Brainy works through his Jimmy’s dream with him. He recalls his father’s funeral and being bullied for money. Brainy begs him to work through the sad memory. He asks Jimmy’s sister to weather to her brother and help him through. She agrees. She enters his memory. He begs to get out. She consoles him while his dream plays out. He was trapped in the funeral home basement, he was never trapped at the diner. He misses the funeral because of that not because he left her behind. He told the diner story so many times he believed it himself. He cries and apologizes. She tells him it’s okay and encourages him to fight back. He does.
Kara has her story on Nia ready to interview her as the dreamer. Meanwhile, Brainy reports back to Lena that Jimmy is good now. She is happy. They hear Kara on the TV in the background, catching her interview. Dreamer tells the world she is both human and alien. She is also a trans woman. She talks about her family and her love of Harry Potter. Lena gets upset. Brainy talks with her about her frustrations and sorrows.
Lockwood deploys his men to get Dreamer. They show up at the interview, ready to take her away. Brainy pulls a fast one on them, hiding Dreamer as she flies through the room. She takes out several men. Kara helps when the lights go out. Kara pretends that Franklin saved her with some of his karate moves. His confidence is bolstered. Jimmy comes out of nowhere and takes on Lockwood, telling him to get out. They leave angry, threatening to find Dreamer.
The next day Franklin’s sister comes to see Kara. She has acquisition papers from the military base Kara was interested in. Dreamer inspired her to come forward. She would love to help. Kara looks over the files. She sees Lena. They talk about their friendship and what matters. They apologize to one another. Lena confesses she has been keeping secrets. She was working with Lex too. He had cancer. Its her brother so she believed him. Kara consoles her with a hug and support. They talk about what Kara has learned from Franklin’s sister. Lena knows who Sebastian is. It’s Lex! Meanwhile, Lockwood comes home to find an alien in his house who leaves after harming his wife.
