There was a killer on the loose. Three newlywed couples have been killed over the past three years and by the same killer. He or she has all killed them the same way. The husband was tortured before he was killed and the wife was usually drowned. No one knew why the killer chose these same methods nor has there ever been any messages left behind, but the killer strikes every year on the same day. It was so much of a routine that some could even call it an obsession. There has never been a year that the killer has let this one day go by without incident and so the police made sure they were all on alert. They even held an internal briefing on it. They advised all officers not to dismiss any calls from people that feel like they’ve been followed.

The killer likes to stalk their victims first. They would follow them for a while to learn these couples’ schedules and they wouldn’t make a move if their intended victims haven’t been married for less than a year. More than that and they would be out of the running. The killer only likes newlyweds. The police thought they could catch this person before they strike and unfortunately, Cassie told them they were too late. She saw the latest victim. Cassie had another vision of a woman being drowned and she knew it was too late to save her. Cassie didn’t really get to see the face. She was of no help to her dad and so he was trying to figure out what to do when suddenly the call came in.

Another couple had been murdered. Shelly and Jim Edwards had been in the same way as the other couples, but this time Jim had broken free of his restraints and he called 911. He was killed before he could give the address only that part didn’t matter. Jim sped up the killer’s timeline with what he did and that finally meant the killer made a mistake. There were pink carnations left behind at the scene. There weren’t any flowers in the house and so the police asked the couple’s relatives. Shelly’s sister said Jim loved to send Shelly flowers and Shelly’s coworkers said those flowers were typically roses. The coworker also mentioned how someone left pink carnations at the gym. The sender left it at the back door and it didn’t come with a card.

Shelly knew her husband was smarter than that and so she suspected her ex of leaving the flowers for her. Shelly called up her ex a few months back because she said marriage was harder than she thought. They then carried on an affair and it ended without Jim ever finding out. Shelly had wanted to leave it at that and then the flowers came. The police spoke to the ex and he didn’t leave those flowers. He said Shelly confronted him and that he told her the same thing. He didn’t know who was messing with her, just that it was not him. So that told the police plenty. They realized the killer was bringing the pink carnations to send their victims a message and that they also brought these flowers to the crime scene.

The killer likes to kill the couple in front of each other so that the other could see their spouses’ pain. Damien profiled the killer and he believes the killer was a man whose wife or fiancée left him for another man. The cop explained it as the killer killing the woman that left him and punishing the man that stole her away. It made a lot of sense and in these cases the police like to believe a killer is a man, but then they found the delivery man that dropped off the flowers and he identified the person that made the order as a woman. The description he gave her also reminded the police of someone else. It reminded them of Lyla. Lila was the woman that ran the Newlywed Women Support Group.

Lyla must have heard how hard it was on these women who were married and were struggling with making compromises. It must have hurt her especially because of her own history. Lyla was supposed to get married when her fiancée left her on their wedding day and for the wedding planner. Lyla had a nervous breakdown afterward. It was canceling her Pink Carnations themed wedding that did it and so everyone thought she would get better with time. Except for Lyla still couldn’t let it go. She resented the women that she felt didn’t want their husbands and it reminded her of her wedding planner. The other woman had told her that she never wanted to get married. Then Lyla later hears how Ashley had to beg her to marry him and that’s what set her off.

Lyla also had enough of her surrogates. She went after her ex-fiancé and his wife, but the police knew she was already there thanks to another vision from Cassie and so they sped up to find Lyla in the middle of her torture routine. She was going on about men wanting women that didn’t want them. She wanted to show her former fiancée Ashley that his wife never cared about him and she still does. Lyla though to win over Ashley with her torture routine and this time the police were there to stop her. Tom had her looking one way and Damien shot her from another. They took down a serial killer and they saved the lives of the Bensons. Damien, however, took it hard when he realized how wrong he was with his profile.

Damien felt the killer would have gotten away if they hadn’t gotten lucky with the delivery guy and Cassie thought differently. She, like him, can only interpret what’s in front of them. Sometimes they’ll get it right and sometimes they’ll get it wrong. Cassie didn’t think Damien should blame himself over it.

Cassie ran into an old friend from high school and she helped her find closure after her fiancée died, so this time she got it but one can never tell what is right or best in the long run.

THE END!
