The Passage begins with Shauna Babcock (Brianne Howey) being taken in to intake but Clark (Vincent Piazza) shoots his gun in the air, demanding what they are doing. Clark cuts her free and tells her to take a moment; when she tries to thank him, he says that never should have happened to her. Clark reveals he is probably going to be the last Clark ever and Shauna feels that is fair enough since she is sure she was named after a stripper her dad knew. She’s from Las Vegas, but it doesn’t get cold like that there and the air is so fresh. They both joke that they’re talking about the weather, making them great conversationalists. Shauna wants to know if what they’re about to do to her is going to hurt, he promises her it won’t and escorts her inside.
In the present time, Clark returns to the facility as people are preparing for the arrival of Amy Bellafonte (Saniyya Sidney) and Brad (Mark-Paul Gosselaar). Brad reviews everything with Amy on what they need to do once they are inside for them to get out of there. Dr. Major Nichole Sykes (Caroline Chikezie) has a hard time taking in the scene as Brad promises Amy he will find her.
The board watches as Shauna was able to drink the sweeper/janitor dry within 90 seconds. Jonas (Henry Ian Cusick) questions Lawrence (Jason Fuchs) as to why Shauna didn’t attack him. Dr. Daniel Pet (Alain Uy) says she still has the ability to make her own decisions, but Lawrence insists it because she knows he belongs to Tim Fanning (Jamie McShane). Jonas wants to know how they are going to fix the nightmare problems most of 4B is having; they are interrupted when Sykes is called out for an issue with “the girl.” Lawrence wants to know why there is a kid there but is ordered back to his post.
Amy is throwing things around, demanding no one touches her. Sykes walks in and introduces herself as Dr. Sykes and doesn’t waste any time explaining that Amy might be the most important girl in the world who can save millions of people and she is going to help them come up with a cure for a very dangerous disease. Sykes swears she won’t let anything happen to her; Amy wants “the Agent” in order to feel better.
Clark informs Paulson (Adam Aalderks) they are not taking any unnecessary risks as safety is the priority here. Once Paulson leaves, all the inmates are fed the blood in the tubes, except for Shauna and Fanning. Shauna has Fanning in her head, who says she needs to stay there as she is part of the plan. Jonas finally realizes the only thing you’d be doing at a dinner table other than eating is talking. Fanning encourages Shaun to use all her power, pointing at Clark and telling her to make him feel her.
Brad watches the news about him supposedly being dead after kidnapping a little girl, also blaming him for the murders of 3 Minnesota sheriffs. Clark walks in, saying he needs Brad to come with him and it isn’t a suggestion. Clark wants him not to move in on him as Brad suggests he better not blink then. Sykes tells Brad that Amy is in her room, but anxious and the reason they are there is because the bad bird flu is spreading rapidly through China and none of the existing vaccines are working; it will hit there within 60 days or less. She says Amy can help as she is a child. Clark says regardless of it, Brad has the option to hold Amy’s hand while she gets the shot or he can go back to his room. He agrees but threatens them if something happens to Amy he is coming after them.
Amy says she didn’t panic, but she did manage to get him there. She counted the steps from the elevator and he is impressed with her skills. He sees a bandage on her neck, she believes its something to keep track of her if he tries to take her. Sykes comes in with the needle as Brad tells Amy to watch him while they inject her. Lawrence sees Fanning suddenly change and asks what he is going to do to her.
Clark is pouring himself a coffee as Shauna is able to show him her story. Las Vegas, 2012 Shauna loves making herself look gross. Shauna is studying special effects makeup, going to a huge party with her friends, drinking and taking drugs. She notices a guy assaulting her friend, she smashes a beer bottle and attacks him, before robbing the bar of all its cash. Clark is clearly shaken from the vision.
Brad and Amy play cards when a nurse comes in to check on her. Brad is able to find things in the medical cart to save for later. Amy tells Brad that she heard a man in the next room with a nice voice, she knows his name is Anthony Carter (McKinley Belcher III). Brad distracts her by telling her to get some rest and checks the place for monsters as she admits she doesn’t like this place; both agreeing to get out of there.
Brad lays on his bed and spots Lawrence leaning over Amy. Brad stops him before he leaves and Lawrence said he came to warn him that “he is coming for her;” Patient Zero aka Fanning. He tells Brad to get Amy out of there before Fanning gets to her. Brad is escorted back into the room, but able to snatch a weapon before they lock him back inside.
Las Vegas 2012
Shauna’s mom is furious that she had to bail her out. Shauna tells her mom exactly what she did that night and assaulted the man who got handsy with her friend. Shauna continues to talk about how she is going to move to LA and work in makeup. She feels Shauna is just going to waste the money and orders her to wash her face, as she is a horror show. In the bathroom, Shauna hides her money as Danny is at her door. He says that she used to be nicer to him, but she tells him with age comes wisdom. She shoves the door closed as he calls her a smartass.
Clark is completely distracted when Sykes asks what he is doing. She reveals they have started new medications on Amy; Clark has faith in Nichole that Amy will make it. Sykes questions about his mentality, knowing it is Babcock wondering if they will be able to have a normal life after all this. He says they can since they answer a call of duty.
Room check is being done as Carter calls it irony that Brad is now in the same position he is in now. Carter says something is coming and it isn’t right. Brad tells him about Fanning and that he is coming for Amy. Carter says Fanning is in his head and probably running the place so he better be on his toes. Amy returns to the room as Carter wants Brad to walk with him because he has some questions. In the room, Amy sits at the door and begins to pass notes with Carter under the door.
Lila Kyle (Emmanuelle Chriqui) calls all the facilities about the twelve names that she had from death-row inmates; every single place hanging up on her until she talks to Darlene (Mandy Fason), who confesses that Shauna Babcock didn’t die in prison, she was removed from the facility by FEDS and Darlene knew something was wrong.
Clark questions Brad about Shauna’s life before prison. Brad reveals the special effects makeup was her plan and her stepfather was sexually assaulting her. Clark is starting to think people don’t get over things, that time helping is just another lie. Brad wants to know why he is losing it now and says he knows about Patient Zero/Fanning and wants to know what they going to do to Amy.
Jonas stops Lawrence, wanting to know about his dreams of Fanning; they started as more patients arrived. It was like movies he couldn’t escape from and Fanning talks to him in his dreams ever since Babcock arrived. The last thing Fanning said to him is they had work to do.
Lila stops Sierra Thompson (Trieste Kelly Dunn), saying Brad is alive. Lila is given 10 seconds to explain what is going on. Lila reveals about the 12 death-row inmates that supposedly died unexpectedly but they were taken to a facility in Colorado as guinea pigs. She gives her Darlene’s information and if it checks out, Sierra would be in contact.
Carter calls out or a guard, saying he is thirsty. Brad tells Amy he will be back in a minute as he is going to see what is really under the bed. He escapes the room and follows Lawrence onto the elevator. He wants 4B, but when Lawrence refuses Brad injects him and uses his eye to get access to the tunnel. Brad uses Lawrence’s keycard and finds all the chambers with the inmates inside. He finds Fanning as Jonas comes through the doors, saying now would be a good time to talk, given 3 minutes until surveillance is back up.
Once the lights are on, Brad realizes he brought all these people here as Jonas explains they created a new species and are just beginning to understand what they are capable of. Brad feels this isn’t science anymore. He tells Jonas that Lawrence told him Fanning is coming for Amy, asking for an explanation. Brad wants to know why they aren’t calling these things Vampires, but Jonas says they are scientists and there is no such thing as Vampires. He believes all Fanning and the others want is to be free.
Lila returns to the motel, where Laci is sitting on the bed. Laci admits she is not taking the pain meds because she doesn’t want to dilute her anger towards the people who shot her. Sierra Thompson calls Lila, saying she will call her tomorrow for a meeting and to make a plan.
Shauna watches as Clark stands outside the glass and they are filling the room with gas. Shauna continues to share her story with Clark as she inhales the toxic smoke. Clark and the guards take Shauna who is foaming at the mouth out of 4B.
Back in 2012, Shaun confronts her stepdad about stealing her money. She says he took it because he needed to cover something. Her mother orders her to take a walk, saying not everything is about Shauna and Danny is a good man. Shauna pauses, asking her mom if she really thinks that and reveals that Danny is a rapist.
Shauna is placed in a new glass chamber, where Clark tells them to start. Clark hears it over and over again that Danny is a rapist; begging her mom and Clark to react to what she said. Clark presses the button and lets the sunlight burn her. Her mom accuses her of being the instigator as Shauna said he started coming into her room when she was 8 until she was 16; she’s devastated her mother knew and didn’t do anything. She blames Shauna, saying Danny is a pussy cat and she could have said “no!” Shauna kills her mother and takes the knife down the hall where she viciously kills Danny.
Clark pressed the button to save Shauna from certain death and she knows its all because of her going into his mind. Brad returns to Amy, saying there are no monsters under the bed. The following morning, brad wakes up and finds himself alone. He opens the door and walks down the hall as Fanning appears at the end of the hall, telling him to stay out of his way and shows his scary face.
