Tonight on ABC their new series The Rookie premieres with an all-new Tuesday, January 15, 2019, season 1 episode 10 called, “Flesh and Blood,” and we have your The Rookie recap below. On tonight’s The Rookie episode as per the ABC synopsis, “On Captain Andersen’s orders, Officer Nolan and Sergeant Grey are paired up for the day on patrol.
Additionally, Nolan’s son and Grey’s daughter visit their dads on the job and see them in action. Meanwhile, Officer Chen is paired up with Captain Andersen, and Officer Bradford tells Chen to protect her at all costs.”

John heads to the airport. He locks himself out of his truck and tries to get back in. The police come by and arrest him, ignoring his story. His son comes out and finds him cuffed and on his knees.
At the precinct, John tells his son he is under a microscope so if he could skip the embarrassing stories that would be great. John’s son tells him he is friends with some of the rookies on social media. John is taken aback. He had no idea. At the daily meeting, all of the rookies are given new TOs to ride with. John gets paired up with Grey.
John waits to meet with Grey and finds his son talking to Grey’s daughter. Grey arrives. They are all uncomfortable. They head out on patrol and stop a vehicle. John parks too close to the car. Grey has to correct him. John arrives at the side of the vehicle and discovers a little old lady. He wants to let her off but Grey notices someone else in her car. It is her son who tries to make a run for it. Grey gets the matter under control.
Chen and her TO arrive at the scene of a domestic dispute. The husband is upset and doesn’t want to leave. He runs into the bedroom where there is a gun and locks himself in. They hear a shot. After they get in the room they discover he has committed suicide. The TO tries to console the wife. Chen is mad at herself for letting the guy get upstairs.
John and Grey arrive back at the station. They wave to their kids and head back out. Meanwhile, Talia and Tim have been paired together and are having a hard time working with one another. They head to the scene where someone may be hiding in an apartment complex laundry room. They hear a noise and argue who should breach the door. Tim demands she does it since he is the senior officer. She opens the door and he gets sprayed by a skunk.
Chen and her TO arrive at the scene fo an argument over a parking spot in a quiet neighborhood. The men get into it, one swings and hits the captain. Chen cuffs him.
Talia refuses to let Tim in the car smelling like he does. Meanwhile, Jackson and Angela help a lawyer get his briefcase from a purp. The lawyer complains that Angela is very aggressive. She took the purp down too rough. They fight back and forth. The purp points out that they really dig one another.
John and Grey arrive at an apartment complex. A woman complains that a couple has been fighting loudly. It is quiet now. Grey tries to kick the door in but can’t. After they finally get in, they discover 2 men dead. When they both try to check their pulses, the men attack them. After they all struggle, Grey and John, cuff them. Meanwhile, their kids talk back at the precinct. Grey’s daughter shares that he was shot years back and it took him a lot to get back to normal.
Grey and his daughter talk. She is worried about him being on patrol. He assures her he is fine. John and his son are also having the talk. He is worried about his dad. John reassures him he is fine.
Chen and her TO captain back at the precinct with their suspect. Chen books him while the captain head into the office. A man inside takes a woman hostage. He just got out of prison and maybe having a hard time adjusting to life on the outside. The captain gets him talking and then rushes him. They take him down.
Grey and John see an explosion ahead of them while driving on the street. They call in for back up and help several people on the side of the street. It appears to be a gas explosion. They head into a home. Grey saves one woman. They head back in. John brings out a little girl. Grey hasn’t come out yet. He goes in after him. Grey is on the floor passed out. John gets him to and outside.
That night at the station, Angela sees the lawyer again. The apologizes and asks her to dinner. She says yes but she needs a date to her brother’s wedding.
Grey and his daughter talk. They head home happy. Talia apologizes to Tim for leaving him. He admits he was a jerk. He still sees her as a rookie he trained. She admits she isn’t going anywhere. She wants to stay on patrol. Chen visits the captain to thank her for riding patrol with her. The captain tells her she finds her impressive. John talks about how much he loves his job. His son understands, he just needs to know he is okay.
