Tonight on ABC their new series The Rookie airs with an all-new Tuesday, March 26, 2019, season 1 episode 17 called, “The Shake Up,” and we have your The Rookie recap below. On tonight’s The Rookie episode as per the ABC synopsis, “A massive earthquake rocks the city and throws everyone’s patrols and its citizens into chaos. Meanwhile, agent Russo recommends Officer Nolan for a protective detail of Brad Hayes, a man whose dealings have put a target on his head.”

John and Talia patrol the cemetery where they find a young man digging up his mothers grave. He is a junky looking for jewelry to pawn. John talks him into coming out of the hole of dirt and to get back on track. He does and then tries to run off but trips over a headstone. It’s going to be a long night. They had to grab him when John sees Zoe’s grave.
While Grey goes through roll call with some ridiculous changes, the news captain comes in. He doesn’t have much to say. John and Tim are paired together for a new project. After roll call, Jackson gets a visit from a love interest Gino who brought his weapon to him. Jackson is worried someone will see Gino and the gun.
Angela and Jackson head out on patrol and come across a man impersonating an officer. Meanwhile, Tim and John arrive at the safe house where they will be watching a man accused of going rogue, from officer to aid to the cartel.
Out on patrol for the day, Chen and Talia get called to a home where a girlfriend is worried about her boys who she cannot reach. They head into the home and find the mother performing a ritual as her son is tied to the bed with crosses burned into his chest.
The captain tells Grey that all of their extra vehicles have been given to LAX. Grey wants to know what to do if they have a car that breaks down. The captain suggests mountain bikes. Grey is upset but nods in approval.
Chen gets a call that her father has been injured. They head to the hospital. Chen finds her dad who tells her he was hurt by a patient but he won’t supply the man’s name. He was mentally ill and Chen’s father believes the system is broken. He doesn’t want them to arrest the man, telling Chen she can leave.
Tim gets a call that the safe house may have been comprised. Their client gets scared when suddenly an earthquake comes out of nowhere. After it ends Tim goes to asses the rest of the house when John is attacked from behind by their client who knocks him out.
Tim comes down the stairs to find John on the floor. He comes to. Minutes later they hear a thud. There are men in the house. Shots are fired. John takes their client to the back of the house while Tim stays in the front firing shots. They all meet in the back when Tim finds a way out. They head out in the car to the beach where they suspect the criminals won’t think to look.
Grey gets orders from the captain to dispatch officers to Bel Air. He thinks it is ridiculous but is reminded by his peers that he will fire. He sends Angela and Jackson out. They arrive at a man shooting at them. After he disappears they head in to find a young man. He explains that it is the house of his boss who is on a coke bender. They tell him to leave the home and wait out front after he shuts off the alarm. They find the man pacing and crazy with guns. He thinks the apocalypse is here. Angela tells him she is a survivor and they have a place to go that is safe. He puts down his guns. They take him in.
On the beach, John, Tim and their client is found by guys from the cartel. They manage to overpower them with their skills in what isn’t a fair fight.
At the hospital, Lucy talks to her dad about how she wants to help change the system when it comes to the mentally ill. A short time later the man comes in to visit Chen’s dad. She arrests him, upsetting his father but at the station adds an addendum to have him get help for a mental illness.
Grey sees to it that he sings the captain’s praises for a hard day. It gets the captain a promotion and out of Grey’s hair.
