The Village begins tonight with Nick Porter (Warren Christie) sleeps quietly beside Sarah Campbell (Michaela McManus) who watches him before kissing his forehead and leaving the bed. She returns to her apartment and checks on Katie (Grace Van Dien) who pretends to be sleeping; once Sarah is gone Katie sneaks out of the window. Patricia Davis (Lorraine Toussaint) is frustrated as she struggles to open her pill bottles dropping them on the floor before she hears a noise and stops Katie, who says she is just star gazing claiming it is a school assignment but then admits she is going to paint something. Patricia says it is exciting and will meet her downstairs.

Patricia and Katie walk to the waterfront, Katie talking about being hypersensitive with her pregnancy. Patricia reveals she is scared, tired and worried about the thing growing inside of her; Katie feels exactly the same. She recalls Katie coming to the apartment, telling Patricia that her momma needs a home. Katie produces environment-friendly paint, making Patricia cover her face to avoid the security camera.

Ron Davis (Frankie Faison) wakes up Patricia, excited about the day. He says it is time to celebrate, showing her a message that Olivia (Hailey Kilgore) is coming and bringing friends to the first gospel Sunday at Smalls. Patricia tells him that she will tweet out the message; confusing Ron who sees she is fully clothed in bed. She urges him to rush as they have a granddaughter to impress.

Sarah prepares herself for the day when Katie walks in with paint on her hands. A knock at the door saves her but Sarah promises she will get back to the conversation; it is Nick at the door, but before they could even speak Amy Bowman (Nadine Nicole) arrives. Both say they are volunteering to help Ron with his Sunday Gospel at Smalls.

Amy takes Nick back to the apartment, confronting him for not coming to her place last night nor responding to her calls or messages. She admits she was worried, but Nick kisses her forehead saying he is fine. Nick reveals they didn’t tell Katie and he hasn’t seen Deacon at the group; promising to make it up to Amy, but she asks him to kiss her and she draws him into a passionate kiss with him pulling away saying he can’t make love to her right now. She is suspicious of him.

Enzo Napolitano (Dominic Chianese) sits with Sami, explaining what fate is; talking about Gwendolina. Sami asks if she is his girlfriend and he says she would be if he knew her full name but he lost her. He tells Sami he is a genius when he says Ben Jones (Jerod Haynes) can help as he is a policeman.

Ben arrives at Ava Behzadi’s (Moran Atias) apartment while she is folding laundry, looking very solemn. He admits he arranged for Sami to be with Enzo to give them a chance to talk as she didn’t give him a chance to explain. She doesn’t like the idea of sleeping with a married man. He hasn’t seen his wife in two years, he pays her health benefits and sends her money, saying he has moved on with Ava and is only married on paper. He tells Ava he loves her, she takes his hand and tells him she loves him too.

Liam (Ben Ahlers) is observing what Katie painted when she explains that it is a selfie, but the image is of a pregnant bunny in a dress. She jokes that she has felt pretty “bunny” lately. She confesses she should have told him sooner about the baby, but she just wanted to be with someone who wanted her for her. He learns there is no father for the baby. She talks about adoption while Liam seems to understand, but he is shocked to learn she is still in high school; her age isn’t the problem but the fact that she lied about everything is. She didn’t lie about liking him and begins to walk away as Liam tells her to come back in a couple of hours as there is something he would like to show her.

Enzo continues to play cards with Sami when Gabe Napolitano (Daren Kagasoff) rushes to the door when Sofia (Aimee Carrero) arrives. She is very prissy with him, saying she has decided to come in but he asks her to keep it down as there is a kid in the house. Enzo leaves with Sami while Gabe explains that he isn’t privileged showing her the couch he sleeps on because he gave up his room to his grandfather. She says privilege isn’t just about money, it is about access. He thinks that is debatable as she tells him that Ava needs a favor from his father.

Ben is in bed with Ava when Enzo knocks on the door; they both pretend they are not home, giggling under the sheets.

Nick walks into Smalls when Sarah tosses him a towel, telling him to get to work. He wants to talk about last night, knowing how messy it is. He tells her to look at him but she stops him from kissing her, reminding him that he has a beautiful girlfriend. Telling him to go back with her and be happy; but he protests, saying he can’t be with Amy when all he thinks about is her. Sarah is worried about them breaking up but tells him to give up and just be there for his daughter. Sarah says giving up left her alone in a delivery room a long time ago. She makes it to the bathroom before she starts to cry.

Olivia is singing on the stage with her friends, a proud Ron and Patricia look on, happy that she is there. Enzo complains about the lack of alcohol, noticing something between Sarah and Nick. Ron thinks he knows the other woman singing on the stage as Patricia says she has one hell of a voice. Ben and Ava arrive with Ben informing Enzo there is only one Gwendolina around the same age as him. He sneaks him the address, while Enzo tells him to drive and use the sirens. Enzo is told good luck and to take the bus. Sarah and Nick continue to exchange hard looks.

Ron and Patricia meet Wendy, whom Ron reveals she is Wendy Parker, someone he saw 30 years ago at a bar. She is ready to sit with him as long as she gets a drink; Patricia insists she is fine. Meanwhile, Katie follows Liam, showing her his survivor joint. He brought her there for the art, saying a nice couple owns it who owns the gallery his art was at. She is an artist who reminds him of Katie. She worries about them knowing she is there but he asked if she could be there, saying that is what friends are for.

Gabe and Olivia ride the subway when Olivia tells him to put on his game face but he worries about the stakes when it comes to his father. He reveals a little about his past, getting off the train, promising to let her know how it goes. Sarah tells Nick to let the night go, which he is sure she made clear as Amy arrives with a member of his team; he prepares for friendly fire if the guy finds out he is sleeping with his dead teammate’s wife.

Katie wanders through the apartment, throwing on the fur coat she found on the bed. She spots a room filled with stuffed animals and a crib that is empty but neatly made and smiles. She winds up a box when Claire Danville (Katrina Lenk) introduces herself to Katie; she tells Katie the coat is hers as it was a giveaway pile. They are fans of each other, laughing as Claire shows her around the place.

Olivia sings while Nick talks to Amy and Deacon. Deacon says he came to show Nick some brotherly love; then goes to take a seat while Nick takes Amy into the back. She is persistent about them moving in together and felt they could tell Deacon together that they are a couple. Nick is not impressed, saying she figured wrong, questioning why Deacon would call her out of the blue. She knows Deacon was a group the day before and when Nick is ready to tell her, she will be waiting.

Ben walks with Enzo, who is thrilled that this is happening at his age. Ben buzzes, saying he has a delivery for Gwendolina and prepares Enzo to see her, but a young girl walks in and she is a fake Gwendolina (Gabrielle Hespe). She says Gwendolina died 4 years ago, breaking Enzo’s heart but Ben tells him to keep his chin up.

Ava sits at the bar, Sarah admits she thought she could leave the past in the past but it isn’t that easy; Ava gets comfortable saying she is there to listen. Outside, Sarah and Ava drink from the bottle, Ava laughing that they are in the same boat, but Sarah thinks cheating on a war widow with a girl you got pregnant in your teens is a boat of its own. Ava admits she won!

Katie loves a picture that Claire shows her from their honeymoon in Italy. Katie reveals her mom has always wanted to go to Italy, Claire hopes she gets to go one day. Katie admits she loves the nursery, asking how old her baby is. Claire says it is a little premature, revealing they lost their baby a year ago but she hasn’t found her way to tear everything down. Liam returns as Claire encourages Katie to keep up the art.

Gabe meets with his father, who feels he needs to learn the meaning of the word “no.” Gabe pushes him, saying he needs one letter which can keep a woman with her son. He doesn’t want his dad to commit perjury, so if he says he has faith in Gabe who is vouching for her it wouldn’t be a lie. He tells his dad about Sofia Lopez, the same woman who is suing him.

Amy watches Sarah, giving her back the earring she found on Nick’s floor. She asks Sarah if she was just walking a dog? Sarah shakes her head no. She quickly tells her it was one time but will never happen again. When asked if she is still, in love with Nick Sarah is unable to answer her. Amy grabs her jacket as Sarah tells Nick that she knows. He runs after her.

Amy stops, telling Nick she doesn’t need his pity because she lost a husband and knows how to deal. She denies they are not family as Nick is just the person who got her husband killed. Deacon comes out, asking if Amy is okay so Nick tells him that he has been sleeping with her. He offers his sympathies and walks away.

Liam is sad that Katie didn’t get to meet the husband. Katie is concerned that Liam told them she was pregnant and could hand over the baby to them. Liam insists that she doesn’t know Katie is pregnant but he accuses her of being upset because she liked it. Katie takes off but Liam wants to show her what he painted last night. She keeps walking without turning back, but there is a heart with a girl in the middle on the wall.

Olivia takes the stage again, getting the entire bar to sing along with Wendy winking at Ron. Patricia receives a call from the cancer center but seeing how happy everyone is, decides not to take the call. Suddenly Ron walks towards the door to greet Gord, who says he isn’t there to shake his hand but is only there to take his daughter home. He orders Olivia to go upstairs as Patricia reminds him that Olivia is 19, but he responds by saying she still lives under his roof; the girl is pissed off and this is the best way to punish him. Ron feels he can’t keep them apart forever, Gord suggests 27 years, the length of time he had to live without am other because of him. He orders Ron to stay away from Olivia.

Katie returns to see Claire, asking if they can talk some more, showing Claire her pregnant belly. Patricia returns to the kitchen, where Ron is sitting with a bottle and a glass. She tries to comfort him, saying they should have never gone. Patricia feels Olivia wants to be in Ron’s life so Gord needs to let her go. Ron tells her that just because she thinks she is dying doesn’t give her the right to mess with his life. He cries as he didn’t ask her to do this and it is too hard because Gord is HIS son. He stomps out of the room.

A buzzer sounds and Enzo attempts to answer it, while he is listening to loud Italian music. He leaves the apartment to the front stoop and find no one but a note with a basket of cannolis. The note is from Gwendolina and has a phone number on the back; he is overjoyed that he got the digits returning to the apartment.

Gabe greets Sofia, confronting her on filing a suit against his dad’s firm. She admits that after he blew her off, damn right she did. Gabe reveals he was given an ultimatum for the internship and he hasn’t given them an answer. Sofia tells him to keep it as Ava has her as an Attorney. Nick unlocks his door when there is a buzz. He calls his dog, putting him in the room. Nick leaves the door open and returns to the kitchen, pouring a drink. Sarah in the mean time is making dinner when Katie returns, crying, telling her mom she thinks she found a lady she can give her baby to; explaining all the great things but can’t understand why she feels bad. Sarah tells her being a mom is hard and hugs her.

Nick’s door closes and the dog begins barking as Deacon walks in towards Nick, who tells him to do his worst. He punches Nick, beating him onto the floor; Sarah and Katie hear the ruckus and take off towards his apartment. Deacon walks out as Sarah tells Katie to get Ben but she is told not to. Sarah helps Nick to his feet as Katie notices his tattoo revealing he was FDNY. Sarah closes her eyes as Katie realizes that her mother lied about her dad dying in 911. Katie looks at Nick, back away with Sarah chasing down the stairs.

She grabs Katie who demands her to not touch her. Katie doesn’t understand why her mom lied and kept them apart for 17 years. She shoves Sarah away, saying she will never speak to her again; Katie leaves the building and Sarah sobbing on the steps. Nick finds her on the steps as Sarah begins to cry.

THE END!
