The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that the CBS soap seems to have a problem on its hands. It started as soon as Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) walked back into Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) life! Sharon was instantly pulled back in Adam’s direction. She tried to keep the romance alive with Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso), but her Adam connection was just too strong.
This is an issue since now Y&R seems to have no idea what do to with Rey. Even Jordi Vilasuso himself appears concerned about what’s in the cards for his character. On Twitter, Vilasuso recently shared a fan’s worries that related to this topic. It suggests we may not be seeing a whole lot of Rey in the weeks ahead.
“*Important message* it seems that #YR is cutting back on Rey’s airtime and stories,” the fan said. “This could be temporary, but just to be safe, now is the time to reach out and let them know you value Jordi & Rey.” Vilasuso retweeted the comment and included a praying hands emoji along with a heart. He probably wouldn’t be doing that if he was confident in great material heading his way.
Of course, Y&R already wrote out Mia Rosales (Noemi Gonzalez) and Arturo Rosales (Jason Canela). Rey fans fear he’ll be next, but that might not be the wisest decision considering the show recently fired Loren Lott (Ana Hamilton) and dropped Cait Fairbanks (Tessa Porter) to recurring. It could seem like they’re shoving aside characters of diverse ethnicities and sexual orientations, and that’s not a good look for Y&R.
With that in mind, let’s consider what The Young and the Restless could do with Rey. We might as well help them out! One option that immediately comes to mind is a Rey and Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) pairing. She’s giving Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) a hard time, so she may end up sabotaging her own romance.
Abby’s likely just afraid of getting hurt, but Nate still doesn’t want to be jerked around. Since Rey was also burned by Arturo and Mia, he’s dealing with a lot of the same issues as Abby. Rey’s insecurities definitely added fuel to the fire as the “Shey” romance went up in flames. Perhaps Rey and Abby could be the perfect people to help each other move into a new chapter.
Abby’s had a series of romantic flops, so she’s in desperate need of pairing that works. Should Y&R give Abby and Rey a shot? Could ‘Rabby’ bring the sizzle?
