The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Daniel Goddard is set to depart the role of Cane Ashby. It’s clear that his exit story is in full swing, but how will Cane leave the canvas? It’s too early to make that call, but we can tell you all about the events leading up to Cane’s looming departure. It looks like he’ll face consequences for some terrible secrets and a risky partnership.
Many Y&R fans had suspicions about Cane from the start of all Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) will drama. The whole thing reeked of scam from day one. Cane can go on and on about how much Katherine loved him, but she did she love him enough to leave him billions? Why would Katherine have singled out Cane as the sole heir to her fortune? It never made sense.
Not to mention that Cane just so happened to attend the new will reading for “moral support.” Is that true or did Cane just want to put on his best shocked act in front of Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Jill Abbott (Jess Walton)? After Cane was knocked out in Vegas, he awoke in a dark room with the new will pages in front of him. That was perhaps meant to throw viewers off Cane’s trail.
That could’ve been staged in case Cane was followed or something along those lines. Regardless, it’s possible for Y&R to explain it away. Even if they don’t, perhaps Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers) finally just got in touch with Cane and urged him to keep his mouth shut. He might’ve suggested he handed Cane billions and advised him to play along.
Bottom line, it looks like Cane knew the truth at some point and chose to keep Devon’s money from him. All that talk about honoring Katherine’s wishes and trying to do right by her? Meaningless! Since Cane’s exit is rapidly approaching, there’s really no time for redemption. Cane will own up to what he did and apologize, but this should still be a shameful departure.
Will Cane truly be sorry or just sorry he got caught? The Young and the Restless spoilers say Colin will ultimately play the blame game. He’ll implicate Cane and cause Devon to go ballistic. As for Simon Black (Jeffrey Vincent Parise), his dirt on Colin could be what sinks Cane, too. Colin certainly isn’t going down alone, so Simon may do something good on his way out. At least Devon (and Y&R fans) will know the truth.
With any luck, Devon can get his money transferred back to him and keep honoring Katherine’s legacy like he was doing before. It’s doubtful we would’ve seen Cane donating computers to elementary school kids and building houses for those in need! Thankfully, Cane’s deception will be exposed, so that should bring a satisfying end to this frustrating story.
