The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Chelsea Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) has two clear romantic options. Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) is her current choice and he’s seemingly safe. But his brother, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), maintains a certain sway in Chelsea’s soul as well.
Chelsea’s choice to reconnect with Nick can be rightly tagged as a defensive reaction to her perception of Adam’s reversion to his infamous bad form. But has she ever loved, does she love, or will she ever love Nick more than Adam?
Devoted soap viewers bring their own real world experience to this iconic show. They know that love isn’t logic. So Chelsea opting for Nick makes sense, right now. She left him, not the other way around. Yet, that’s a representation of true passion.
Nick Newman Usually Tries To Be A Good Role Model
For his part, Nick has often, though not always, been a good role model. The footage Adam provided the custody hearing judge of Nick’s morph into J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) reaffirmed that both brothers have a dark side.
Chelsea was clearly more in love with Adam during the Chadam era. Chick, on the other hand, was good, but arguably never greater as a couple. It’s possible that Y&R is, or will, create a storyline where Chick has a baby. If so, the assertion in the above paragraph, regarding Chadam’s dominance, will wane. But the plot isn’t there yet and may never be.
Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) wasn’t Chelsea’s first-born. That would be Johnny Abbott (Ryan and Holden Hare), who is rarely shown interacting with Chelsea. That’s odd considering the smallness of this Wisconsin city. Adam (as then played by Michael Muhney) and Chelsea’s enduring love led to Connor’s birth. But hardcore fans recall that Chadam had a son before Connor.
Hope Wilson’s Handkerchief A Symbol Of Their Love?
Riley Newman was played by Malachi Barton, who only appeared as this character in Adam’s dream that projected what a day in Riley’s early life might have been. This boy was Adam and Chelsea’s first child. He didn’t live as a result of a car crash involving Summer Newman (Hunter King). Connor, who Chelsea initially claimed was fathered by Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton), became further proof of Chadam’s powerful love.
Chelsea’s thoughtful gift to Adam may telegraph the future. Hope Wilson’s (Signy Coleman) handkerchief was given to her by Adam long ago. She kept it and gave it to Adam at Chancellor Park to provoke the good inside him.
Adam can talk to and about Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) all he wants, but Chelsea was, is, and remains his true love. He’s not perfect around her, but the best parts of him, most especially his fatherhood instincts, are drawn out when Chelsea is around.
