The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Chloe Mitchell Changes Game – Adam's Overconfidence Leads to Deadly Threat

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Chloe Mitchell’s (Elizabeth Hendrickson) reappearance will change the game. Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) is overconfident, just as Vickie (Amelia Heinle) told her brother, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow).

Adam returned to Genoa City, Wisconsin, believing that doing so would help to restore his lost memory. The altered state he’d been in since September 2016, resulted because Chloe attempted to kill him at a cabin in the woods that was located on the outskirts of town.

That seeming end of a fabled character was part of a three-year arc that began when Adam (as then played by Michael Muhney) was believed to have accidentally run Delia Abbott (Sophie Pollono) down. He later realized what happened, covered up what he did, and was found out.

The failure of Hendrickson’s character to eliminate her nemesis a handful of weeks ago wasn’t known until recently, when Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) was told that someone matching Adam’s description was living in Las Vegas, Nevada, using the name Spider. Sure enough, it was the recast of the alter ego, recast Justin Hartley (Adam) voluntarily departed in November 2016.

While surprised to see her, Adam (now played by Grossman) didn’t expect Chloe to pull out a gun and shoot him while he was standing inside the doorway of the tack house. Yet she did that and took off, leaving him for dead yet again. But Adam obviously didn’t die, as Chloe learned.

The long-awaited one-on-one between the returning Hendrickson and Grossman is intriguing. Hendrickson has played off multiple Adam’s over time, always delivering outstandingly consistent performances. Chloe and Adam are great foes who possess their own foibles as well.

Grossman has started fast, working many scenes and emitting pages of dialogue with the type of snark that fans are accustomed to where this particular character is concerned. The actor stands on his own, as yet another version of Adam. He’s off to a good start and his persona will surely continue, rather than outright win, his battle with Chloe.

However, he’s overestimating being able to control her because she, like him, is a force of nature. Yes, Chloe is presumed dead and fears going to jail. But Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) and Michael Baldwin (Christian Le Blanc) project to do whatever is necessary to defend her, no matter that Adam has all of them pinned down.
