The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that the CBS soap will let Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott) show off his talent. Although some fans have voiced complaints about Billy’s latest storyline, most agree that Thompson is doing a fantastic job with the material. Whether you’re on board with revisiting all the Delia Abbott (Sophie Pollono) grief or not, it’s exciting to see Thompson get something to sink his teeth into.
Thompson has made the role of Billy his own, which is why some viewers have been concerned about Billy Miller’s (ex-Billy Abbott) recent departure from General Hospital. Miller also had plenty of fans as Billy, but the role belongs to Thompson now – and he’s doing just fine in it. However, Gina Tognoni (ex-Phyllis Summers) was doing just fine as well, but they still replaced her with Michelle Stafford.
Michelle Stafford Has Settled Back Into Role Of Phyllis Summers
Of course, Stafford’s portrayal is also great. She’s classic Phyllis and we get what they were going for. Stafford has settled right back into her Phyllis groove and brings something fun to the table. Nevertheless, the show may have learned a valuable lesson about unnecessary cast changes that don’t bring a ratings payoff.
Since bringing Stafford back didn’t offer a major ratings boost, it’s doubtful Miller’s return would either. Thankfully, Y&R appears to be leaving things alone for now. Thompson is getting this juicy story and even has a very special episode headed his way. On the new Y&R episode, Tuesday September 17, Billy will battle his inner demons and hopefully come through the experience with a deeper understanding of his issues.
Standalone episodes are always a good way to put an actor’s talent on full display, and Thompson’s will be no exception. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Billy will have a fantasy that allows him to speak with Delia as a young woman. He’ll meet who she might have grown up to be, and she should offer some words of wisdom.
Jason Thompson Opened Up About His Challenging Storyline
In the new issue of Soap Opera Digest, Thompson opened up about this storyline and what it’s been like to shoot it. He also posed some questions that suggest there could be much more to come in how Billy deals with his problems.
“It was challenging,” Thompson said. “It still is, as I haven’t gotten past the meat of it and how it continues forward. What does this mean for him in his psychological health? Are we going to explore that?”
