The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Alice Hunter is indeed on her way out as Kerry Johnson. CDL previously reported that Kerry’s exit story was coming up. Now Hunter has confirmed the news herself on Twitter, so all that’s left to do is prepare for the shockers ahead! Hunter provided some huge story clues that give us a good idea of where this might be heading.
Since so many Y&R fans had been sending messages to Hunter, she opted to just tweet out the confirmation. “To all asking – yes, Kerry is taking an indefinite hiatus,” Hunter said. “She earns it though…you’ll see soon enough. I LOVE the arc, even if I’m sad to leave.” In previous tweets, Hunter also talked about a big reveal that’s brewing and hinted at great surprises for viewers.
What does all this mean? It most likely has something to do with another big secret of Kerry’s. After all, freezing her eggs didn’t explain everything. Kerry once lied to Jack before driving off to meet someone mysterious. Does that mystery person have something to do with her exit? We’d say so!
Now let’s think about who Kerry’s been close to since moving to GC. She’s in a relationship with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), but she resisted it at first. Kerry actually came to town to work for Phyllis Summers (Gina Tognoni). What if Phyllis was actually Kerry’s target in a way? Could Kerry be a spy sent to monitor her? Perhaps the reason she’ll resist betraying Phyllis is more about her blowing her plan.
That brings us to why Kerry would be watching Phyllis so closely. Phyllis has been wrapped up in the cover-up crew chaos for months, so there’s an easy answer. What if Kerry is J.T. Hellstrom’s (Thad Luckinbill) secret partner in crime? She could’ve helped him out by planting listening devices, cameras, etc. J.T. might’ve needed someone to help him get a full grasp on the girls’ night gang’s activities.
In other words, Kerry may be part of the reason the tormentor – who was likely J.T. – was always one step ahead. He could handle illegal surveillance at the Newman ranch, but Kerry could’ve been his right-hand woman at Jabot. It always seemed like a mission J.T. could use assistance with.
The Young and the Restless is undoubtedly desperate to include a twist right about now. The J.T. saga has been pretty predicable so far. J.T. seems to be alive as many of us assumed he would be. Most of us probably knew Phyllis would turn on the others, too.
The outcome is predictable as well since the other three will inevitably get off the hook somehow. Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) aren’t exiting the show, so they’ll obviously go free sooner or later. That’s why it makes sense for Y&R to shake things up and bring Kerry into this. It’d be something exciting and different.
It would also make sense considering Kerry has been so secretive. There’s no reason why they can’t make her connected to J.T. Regardless, The Young and the Restless spoilers say Kerry will face backlash for whatever her secret turns out to be.
On the bright side, Y&R “definitely left it wide open” for a comeback according to Hunter. It should be interesting to see what the future holds. We’ll give you updates as other Y&R details emerge.
