The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Kristoff St. John Dead at 52 – Y&R Star Dies At Home

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) star Kristoff St. John was found dead in his home in California. One of Kristoff’s friend went to check on him and they found his body according to TMZ. Police arrived at the scene and the actor was pronounced dead. There is no sign of foul play, but alcohol could have played a role in his death according to a source.

Kristoff St. John, who was 52, spent nearly three decades in the role of Neil Winters on The Young and the Restless. He earned nine Emmy nominations and 10 NAACP Awards. However, his personal life has been in shambles for the past five years.

In 2014, Kristoff’s son, Julian took his life while under treatment in a mental health facility. Mia and Kristoff St John sued the facility for negligence and it was settled for an undisclosed amount of money.

Two years ago, on Julian’s death anniversary, Kristoff threatened to kill himself. The police placed him on a 72-hold hold for a psychiatric evaluation. At that time, he chose to enter a treatment center and seek help for his depression. He appeared to be on the path to healing and, by all accounts, looked to be a better place.

Mia reacted to her ex-husband’s death on social media. She said in a now deleted tweet that first the hospital took her son, Julian from her. And now, they took her husband from her too. She typed in all caps that they killed her family.

Kristoff struggled with depression after his son died. He grappled with why it happened as they sought treatment for Julian to prevent suicide. His anger toward to facility was understandable.

Kristoff St. John will be missed by The Young and the Restless fans for years to come. He was a big part of the Winters family. Just a few weeks ago, St. John told his fans on social media that Neil scenes were coming soon. R.I.P. Kristoff St. John.
