The Young and the Restless spoilers has some great news to pass on about a former Y&R star. Michael Muhney, who portrayed Adam Newman on the CBS soap from 2009-2014, is starring in a new short film that is already being recognized with an award. It’s a romantic comedy short film called “Sidepiece.”
The movie is described as a film where “nothing is as it appears to be.” The poster for the movie describes the plot as “It’s complicated. Like, really really complicated.” And the movie’s tagline reads, “Dating is hard. Especially when you’re married.” Given the YouTube clip from the movie, which you can watch below, the movie looks like a quirky comedy that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
In the clip, Collin (who is played by Michael Muhney) has an awkward first meeting with Lucy (played by Jenness Rouse) in a park. Collin is strangely tapping on the park bench with drumsticks when Lucy approaches and the two meet, exchanging a hug. As the meeting progresses, Lucy asks if Collin has ever done this before.
Collin replies that he’s never used a dating app before, when Lucy explains that she meant had he ever cheated on his wife before. They both agree that it’s their first time doing that, when along comes Lucy’s sister-in-law Julie (played by Minsun Park). Julie seems to be totally enthused that Lucy is on a date and cheating on her brother, which leaves Collin speechless.
Michael Muhney, in addition to appearing on Y&R, is well-known for his role as Sheriff Don Lamb on the TV series Veronica Mars. He appeared on the series from 2004-2007. Most recently, he appeared on an episode of The Good Doctor back in 2017. The short film “Sidepiece” will be fans first opportunity to have seen Michael in a while.
The short film recently won the Merit award at a film festival. The filmmakers announced the win on the short’s Facebook page, saying, “Thank you, Canada Shorts – Canadian & International Short Film Festival, for honoring Sidepiece with the Award of Merit! And thanks for the pretty laurel.”
“Sidepiece” will soon be appearing at film festivals in Los Angeles, Miami, and Australia. It looks like a quirky, fun show. Would you like to see the film? Stay tuned to the CBS soap and don’t forget to check CDL often for the latest Young and the Restless spoilers, updates, and news.
