The Young and the Restless spoilers review for Monday, December 16, tease that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) will continue their conversation at the bar outside of Genoa City. They’ll talk about always being under someone’s watchful eye, and Billy will reference his family waiting for him to fail. Amanda will reveal that in her story, there was no family – she was an orphan and grew up in foster homes, but she never tried to find her parents.
Billy and Amanda will enjoy an easy conversation, and Amanda will describe a pretty cynical way of approaching life – how everyone wears masks and there’s always a monster lurking underneath. Billy will note that it sounds like a lonely way of living. Mid conversation, Billy will get a call from Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), and Amanda will leave as Billy tells Victoria that he left something for her at home.
Later, Billy will arrive home, and Victoria will thank him for the nice card, wine, and chocolate, which she enjoyed while he was out. She’ll tell him that he’s everything the perfect husband should be, yet those words won’t make him happy. She’ll go on about how much she loves him, and that she shows him every day how much. But to himself, Billy will be wishing that she’d tell him she’ll love him no matter what.
Clearly, Billy has a major self-esteem problem, and he doesn’t feel like he has unconditional love from the people most important in his life – Victoria and his family. What he seems to want is someone who just likes him “as is,” which appears to be what he’s getting from Amanda. He perceives that she accepts him for who he is, as just some guy, and not as “Billy Abbott,” who is supposed to be this or that.
Meanwhile, on the new episode of Y&R on Monday, December 16, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) will get some new information on Amanda. He’ll review the dossier provided by Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), and he’ll speak on the phone with some investigator about Amanda’s background. He’ll note that there wasn’t anything really earth shattering on her so far, except that she was engaged, and that she filed a restraining order on the guy.
He’ll learn from the investigator that her fiancé’s name was Ripley Turner, and that he filed a restraining order against her, too. Amanda closed her law office not long after those restraining orders were filed, and she was then contacted by someone claiming to be Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz), then ended up in Genoa City. Later, at the Grand Phoenix, Devon will consider doing a search for Ripley Turner’s name.
Shortly thereafter, Amanda will be sitting at the bar at Society when her phone rings. She’ll answer, but there will be no one on the other end, and she’ll look around the restaurant, clearly worried that someone may be watching her.
Next on Y&R, at Jabot, Summer Newman (Hunter King) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will be hard at work at Jabot. It will be late, and they’ll be punchy but getting along well and clearly enjoying each other. Summer will joke that Kyle needs to go home and get some real food from his chef wife, and she’ll take Kyle’s phone and video call Lola Abbott (Sasha Calle). Lola will be at Society spending time with Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) and learning all about the work he’s doing for Jabot.
Lola will take Summer’s call, and she’ll notice Summer and Kyle’s playful way. In the course of the call, Lola will show Kyle the busy restaurant and he’ll spot Theo sitting at a table, which he won’t appreciate. After the call, Kyle will be visibly upset, but he’ll brush off Summer’s concerns about what’s wrong. He and Summer will then turn serious, and he’ll tell Summer that she means more than she knows…to Jabot.
Meanwhile, Lola will let Theo taste test some of her new and upcoming dishes, and the two will be playful and easygoing with each other. They’ll have a spirited argument over the fact that Lola will be removing Theo’s favorite dish from the menu, and she’ll promise to make it for him anytime he wants, special order.
It seems that the distance between Kyle and Lola is growing, while Summer and Kyle are growing closer, as are Theo and Lola. This all seems like a recipe for disaster, with Summer and Kyle working closely together and now Lola and Theo spending so much time together. One wonders who’s going to cheat first – Lola or Kyle?
