The Young and the Restless spoilers has some news to pass on about the upcoming Y&R tribute to the late Kristoff St. John, who sadly passed away on February 4, 2019 at the age of 52. Kristoff portrayed the fan-favorite character Neil Winters on the CBS soap. Y&R is currently planning a several-episode tribute to Kristoff and his character that will air in late April 2019.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that three former stars of Y&R will be returning to canvas to participate in the tribute episodes. Specifically, Shemar Moore (Malcolm Winters), Victoria Rowell (Drucilla Winters), and Mishael Morgan (Hilary Hamilton) will be returning for the episodes.
Here’s what we know about the Y&R tribute to Kristoff and the former stars’ returns. The show will start addressing Neil Winters’ passing beginning on Tuesday, April 23. Neil will die suddenly and unexpectedly, and his family and friends will gather to pay tribute to him.
The storyline concerning Neil’s death will continue throughout the rest of that week, and Shemar Moore, portraying Neil’s brother Malcolm, will appear on Thursday, April 25 and Friday, April 26, presumably for funeral services for Neil. Thus, Y&R is dedicating four full days to address Neil’s death and allow his friends and family members (as well as viewers) to formally grieve.
But the tribute won’t end there. Y&R plans a special episode honoring Kristoff St. John on Monday, April 29. This will consist of clips of Kristoff’s most memorable moments, and cast members sharing their fond memories of him. Victoria Rowell and Mishael Morgan will be making appearances in this episode and sharing their stories and insights about Kristoff. Both Victoria and Mishael portrayed Kristoff’s on-screen wives.
Y&R’s executive producer Anthony Morina is hopeful that all of the episodes will pay proper tribute to Kristoff. “We all miss Kristoff immensely and are understandably still in a bit of shock,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “Our hope is that this storyline and tribute episode airing in April will honor the legendary character Kristoff helped create, and provide our audience with the opportunity to say a meaningful goodbye to Neil Winters.”
