The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Summer Newman (Hunter King) will have quite a mess on her hands. She’s already been trying to balance a romance with Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) and a friendship with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). Deep down, Summer would still like for that Kyle friendship to be more. That makes things extra complicated, but Kyle and Theo’s family connection is about to make Summer’s dilemma even worse.
Summer’s been on a trip to Atlanta, but the new cousins are eager for her to wrap things up and get back to Genoa City. They’re both feeling overwhelmed right now for different reasons. First, there’s Kyle – who has every reason to be wary of Theo after all the stunts he’s pulled.
In the past, Theo used every possible opportunity to be obnoxious and push Kyle’s buttons. It’s reasonable for Kyle to expect Theo to cause more problems due to his Abbott connection. At the same time, Kyle isn’t handling all this very maturely. He’s spinning out and making himself look bad in the process. It’s the kind of behavior that’s just going to make Theo look more sympathetic.
We’ve also got Theo, who’s been emotionally affected by his new Mergeron-Brooks roots. Theo seems to be growing up a bit and showing some depth. That doesn’t mean fans who turned against him will suddenly like him, but we can’t ignore the softer side Y&R is now pushing.
The show wants us to see a gentler Theo while Kyle grows increasingly agitated. It makes Kyle seem irrational, even though his concerns are justified based on their history. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Summer will try to wade through all the feelings and feuding. She’s bound to feel torn about exactly where she stands, but she’ll probably side with Kyle for the most part.
Lola Abbott (Sasha Calle) isn’t cutting Kyle very much slack, but she doesn’t know the extent of all the Zoe Hardisty (Anna Grace Barlow) drama that happened in New York. Summer knows all about that, so she should be sympathetic to Kyle and will perhaps push for patience from Theo. He can’t expect Kyle to just forgive and forget everything that happened overnight.
Theo may be related to Kyle now, but what really changed? Kyle needs to see Theo prove he can be a better man – and that’ll take time. Unfortunately, Theo may feel slighted by Summer as she bonds with Kyle over this. Lola’s the one who truly understands Theo’s perspective, and that’s dangerous for “Kola’s” marriage.
Although The Young and the Restless is apparently putting Theo on a better path, that doesn’t mean he won’t make mistakes. Temptation could bubble up as Theo and Lola’s connection grows – especially when the rift between Lola and Kyle will be widening. Throw in Kyle’s strengthening bond with Summer and things are about to get interesting in this love quad! Some partner swapping seems to be looming.
