The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Tuesday, December 31, teases that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will hope to make amends. At the Grand Phoenix, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will arrive after being invited by Phyllis. They’ll notice Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), who’ll eventually make his way over.
After a somewhat prickly exchange between Adam and Phyllis, Jack will push Phyllis to reveal what went down. However, Phyllis will skip divulging the details and focus on the reason for this meeting instead. She’ll be sorry for how horrible she was to Jack, but she’ll be hopeful about repairing their friendship. Jack will leave Phyllis moved when he acknowledges that the pain’s behind him and they’re indeed friends again.
Meanwhile, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will admit something that leaves Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) fuming. He’ll fill Chelsea in on Adam’s proposition, which involved urging Phyllis to seduce Nick. Once Chelsea wraps her head around this info, she’ll be upset that Nick didn’t tell her sooner. Chelsea will decide to confront Adam, but she’ll want to do it alone.
At Adam’s penthouse, Chelsea will arrive and immediately fly into a rage over Adam’s scheme. He’ll be apologetic, but he’ll point out that he can’t take it back now. Adam will explain that he was just so desperate to fix things between them. He’ll suggest that he didn’t expect Nick and Chelsea to last, so he was just trying to accelerate their breakup.
Adam will insist that deep down, Chelsea is torn. He’ll tell Chelsea he loves her, but she’ll start griping about him bringing Phyllis into this. Adam will want Chelsea to focus on what’s in her heart. He’ll be convinced that Chelsea loves him back, but she’ll think Adam’s confused about what he really wants.
Chelsea will push Adam to stop chasing the past, but he’ll want to put their family back together. Although Adam will acknowledge that Nick’s the safe choice, Adam will believe he’s the one who can make Chelsea whole. At Jabot, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will hear a new pitch. He’ll listen as Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) and Summer Newman (Hunter King) discuss a contest for Kyle’s approval.
Kyle will grudgingly suggest Theo did a good job, which Theo will think must’ve been painful for his cousin to admit. Kyle also insultingly remarks on Summer and Theo’s change in relationship status.
After Lola Abbott (Sasha Calle) brings over lunch for the gang, which jealous Kyle will not be pleased about, she’ll mention that Theo did some taste-testing for her. Later, Kyle will kiss Lola, which will leave Summer and Theo pining for what they can’t have nearby.
Once Summer and Lola are gone, Kyle will annoy Theo by bringing up notes about the project. Theo will feel like Kyle will do anything to bring him down. Their argument will eventually lead to Theo bringing up New York, but Kyle will insist they’re not talking about that ever again. After Jack walks in and catches the end of their argument, he’ll tell Theo he’d like to speak with Kyle alone.
Back at the Grand Phoenix, “Chance” Chancellor (Donny Boaz) will catch up with Jill Abbott (Jess Walton). When Jill finds out Chance is going through a career change and will be staying in Genoa City, she’ll wonder if there’ll be enough excitement for him there. Soon after, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) will steal Chance away for a moment, so Jill will grin over what’s keeping Chance in town.
Abby will also ask for a favor on Tuesday’s Y&R episode. She’ll wonder if Chance will be her date for the New Year’s Eve bash, so Chance will confess he’d love to. At Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) penthouse, Jill will visit him to check in. They’ll acknowledge that it was Devon’s first Christmas without Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John), but Elena Dawson’s (Brytni Sarpy) support helped hm.
Jill will get updates on Devon and Elena’s upcoming London trip before the conversation shifts to Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers). The Young and the Restless spoilers say Jill will be sorry about the con. She’ll want to make sure Devon gets his fortune back. Devon still won’t be certain Cane Ashby’s (Daniel Goddard) on the right side of this mess. He’ll suggest that all parties involved will pay the price.
At Crimson Lights, Nick will let Phyllis know he spilled the seduction proposition to Chelsea. He’ll feel like Adam’s going to spin this in a way that’ll minimize the damage. They’ll eventually lighten the mood a bit as Summer arrives. Once Nick’s gone, Summer will question Phyllis about starting up something with her dad again. Phyllis will assure Summer that’s not the case, but we’ll see about that!
