The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Tuesday, July 23 Recap – Adam Wants to Trade Chelsea for Christian, Ex-Wife Refuses

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update and recap for Tuesday, July 23, tease that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will try to defend himself against the video. At the custody hearing, Nick will insist that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) is just trying to make him look bad. He’ll explain a little more about the circumstances surrounding the footage and point out that his family has forgiven him for the J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) impersonation plot.

The judge will have concerns thanks to the new evidence, so Nick will note that Adam tried to trade Dark Horse for Christian Newman (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen). Things will get heated between the brothers as Adam brings up the J.T. scheme again. He’ll wonder where Christian was during this mess and contend that the video shows Nick’s true character.

Y&R spoilers say Nick will counter that Adam manipulates his way out of his problems. He’ll bring Delia Abbott’s (Sophie Pollono) death into the conversation and remind Adam that he covered up the hit-and-run. The judge will decide he needs some time to mull everything over before he makes his ruling.

At Society, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) will see the news story about Nick. They’ll assume Adam’s behind it, but they’ll opt to focus on other matters for now. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Abby will talk about her first-floor lounge plans at Phyllis’ hotel. It’ll take some convincing, but Phyllis will ultimately get on board with the business arrangement.

Next, Phyllis will chat with Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson), who’ll think she should name the hotel Grand Phoenix since she rose from the ashes. After Theo starts texting celebrities about the opening, Summer Newman (Hunter King) will appear and admit she’s weirded out by all this. She won’t like the idea of Theo working with her mom, but he’ll think it’s fine and encourage Summer to join in.

Back with Phyllis, she’ll get on the phone and urge someone to move forward with the second business acquisition she mentioned earlier. At Crimson Lights, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will talk to Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) about his past. He’ll confess that he was afraid his history might scare her off and make her call off the wedding.

Kyle will admit that plenty of women were part of his partying lifestyle. When he opens up about how they used one another, Lola will note that’s a sad way to live. She’ll feel like this all stems from Summer. Lola will believe everything always comes back to Kyle’s ex, but he’ll disagree. Kyle will recall meeting Lola and how he saw so much in her smile. He’ll point out that he doesn’t want to be like self-absorbed Theo.

When Chelsea Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) walks in, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) will take a jab about her returning to the scene of the crime. Chelsea will be sorry for bashing Sharon in the head and sending her to the hospital. She’ll suggest Sharon’s always had a way of influencing Adam, so she’ll push her to do it again. Chelsea will think Sharon may be able to lead Adam away from his dark side.

Sharon will argue that she already tried, but Chelsea will reply with a warning. She’ll think this whole Christian situation is crossing a line. If Adam takes Christian from Nick, Chelsea will feel like Adam’s a lost cause. She won’t think Sharon will ever be convinced of that, so she’ll urge her to intervene.

Soon after, Sharon will walk up to Adam’s penthouse and considering knocking. She’ll quickly change her mind and dash off. At Nick’s house, he’ll relay his custody fears to Chelsea before Adam barges in. Adam will insist he can make this an easy transition for Christian, but Nick will imply that Adam shouldn’t get too cocky.

Once Chelsea tells Adam about her meeting with Sharon, she’ll propose finding some sort of solution. Adam will have one: He’ll drop the custody suit if Chelsea will come home to the penthouse with him. Chelsea will refuse, so Adam and Nick will keep bickering until Christian walks in. He’ll be escorted out by Chelsea, which will leave Adam and Nick to continue their showdown.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Nick will deliver a stern warning. He’ll think Adam should replay that footage and remember who he’s going up against. It sounds like this battle is really heating up! We’ll give you updates as other Y&R details emerge.
