The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is dealing with a tragic and scary situation. He’s been diagnosed with a rare blood disease called PNH that can be fatal. It’s a disorder of the red blood cells, in which a person’s immune system attacks their red blood cells, breaks the cells down, and excretes them from the body
And while Dr. Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) is on the case and Victor has undergone treatment for the disorder, he recently found out that the treatment wasn’t successful, so he needs to seek other options. Unfortunately, PNH isn’t one of those diseases with a textbook treatment. Victor might be able to join an experimental clinical trial in the future, but time is of the essence with this disease, and he really needs a successful treatment now.
Well, one treatment that has helped some patients with PNH is a bone marrow stem cell transplant. It’s a treatment that is typically used only for younger patients with the disease, but this is Victor Newman we’re talking about, and surely Nate can arrange for a transplant for him.
If so, then Victor will need a donor, and that donor will need to be a blood relative. Ideally, the donor would be a brother or sister, but it could be a child. That means that Victor could seek a cure for his disease from one of his children, which could make for a very interesting situation.
Victor’s children have always felt competition among themselves for his love and acceptance, and we could easily see a situation in which Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), and Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) all get tested in the hopes of being a good match for their father’s bone marrow.
And of course, all of this could happen at the same time as another family conflict is occurring…the battle for Christian Newman (Jamie and Alister Tobias). As Y&R viewers know, Adam has just sued Nick for full custody of Christian, and according to Y&R spoilers, Victor will come down firmly on Nick’s side in the dispute.
And that seems like a very soapy situation that’s just begging for an additional conflict to be thrown in. What if it turns out that Adam is the only donor match for Victor? Adam doesn’t normally do nice things for others without getting something major in return, even when it comes to family. What if Adam uses his donor status as leverage to help him secure custody of Christian?
We could see a situation in which Adam only agrees to donate bone marrow stem cells to his father unless he gets custody of Christian. He could totally strong-arm Nick into forking over Christian in exchange for the bone marrow that will save Victor. It would be totally devious, but wouldn’t that be just like Adam?
Do you think this little scenario could actually play out? Are we going to see Adam use his father’s life as a bargaining chip to get Christian back? Stay tuned to the CBS soap and don’t forget to check CDL often for the latest Young and the Restless spoilers, updates, and news.
